    We've had two shots!

At one end Brennan Johnson has a go from a tight angle which is straight at Emiliano Martinez.

And at the other end, Ollie Watkins leads a counter before having an effort blocked by a wall of white.

I think it's really good play from Aston Villa they are letting the two centre-backs for Spurs have the ball and then as soon as the ball enters the mid-third and it goes into midield there is always pressure on the ball from Aston Villa whether it be from the outside centre-backs or the midfielders - I think they are playing really well.

This is a formation we used at Wolves quite a lot. In terms of being patient and letting the ball come into areas where we can press. I think they are doing it really, really well.

This may be a hot take but Ange's style of football is too open and if Spurs want to win competitions they can't do that with that style of play. They need to bring a manager back who can build off strong foundations. Bring Pochetino back. I would argue Nuno had more of a chance winning a trophy.

It is admirable the way these two play, but the attacking quality has been seriously lacking. There's been no calmness in the final third.

My 4-4 prediction earlier now looks very foolish.

What is brilliant about these two teams - sometimes when you come into a game of his stature and looking at how big this game is, some teams are a bit tentative they don't really want to go for it, especially Aston Villa being in the driving seat at the moment in terms of points and being in front of Tottenham. But both teams going for it.

Aston Villa are trying to soak up pressure and counter attack in behind and Tottenham are trying to control the game as well.

It's starting to feel that way Fordy.

Spurs have a rare opportunity in the final third but Brennan Johnson, trying to find Son Heung-Min on the overlap, overhits his pass.

This is now the latest into a Premier League game that Spurs have gone without a shot this season.

Spurs fan here and as much as I'd obviously love three points, I can see it being a stalemate based on how both teams need the win to close the other out, mistakes are happening at both ends and I can just see another late goal winner by either side for a scrappy 1-0.

Tottenham have had just five touches in the opposition box.

Aston Villa are definitely setting up to play on the break. That said, Tottenham are giving the ball away so much that through counter-attacks alone, it feels like Villa are edging the possession.

It has been a trait in this game, Tottenham on the front foot, in the high press, the whole team in Aston Villa's half, making it tough for Aston Villa to get out.

I think we have seen in the last five minutes or so just why Aston Villa are playing this way. They're using their wingbacks an awful lot, they're switching the ball and trying to get in behind on the counter attack whenever they can.

Matty Cash intercepts and gets Villa driving forward again.

He plays in Leon Bailey who dribbles into the box, tries to stand Yves Bissouma up, but slips over, ending the attack.

Story of the match right there.

I'd say Spurs are worse off. In my opinion there's not a single club in Europe that wouldn't be improved with Harry Kane in the squad.

Curious on this hypothetical… if Kane had stayed, would Spurs have been better or worse, higher or lower, under Ange? On goals alone you’d think he’d be propelling them into the title race, but is there an argument that it’s a better and more balanced team without him? Not a dig at Kane or Spurs, just a general query from an opposition fan…

Villa come again as Leon Bailey hits the byeline, cutting back for Matty Cash, but the full-back's toe-poke under pressure hits the side-netting.

This game is being played at a frantically high pace. The decision-making in the final third though has been lacking.

Agree with Jacob @13:04 with exhibits of Newcastle and Manchester Utd to back that up. Spurs will be roasted in the CL with their current squad. Levy needs to splash the dosh.

I agree, Spurs do a look a bit suspect at the back.

But I think Villa are panicking a little, snatching at chances. That final ball just seems a little off.

Hilarious when a Spurs fan talks about ambition. Actually Gary, you can see what Emery is doing. Villa played a game midweek, he’s conserving energy by keeping a specific shape. Villa keeping things tight, working Spurs out tactically. Spurs can have all the possession they want. Let’s see what happens aye….

Spurs look so easy to get at defensively. If Villa get their act together they could win this easily.

Too easy. Dejan Kulusevski gets a yard of space out wide with plenty in white shirts queuing up in the middle.

But his cross is a floater, with no pace on it, and Villa keeper Emiliano Martinez easily gathers.

Tottenham have wisely started to slow the game down. They're trying to stop Villa's momentum with some slower sideways passes.
