Lots of noise around Anfield now but Brighton have responded well to the equaliser and threaten again, with the excellent Simon Adingra finding Danny Welbeck, but his shot is into the sidenetting.

Biggest question for Liverpool today will be can they improve their passing and crossing in the final third. If they can then they’ll win this game. That little bit of accuracy is the key to it all.

    Liverpool 1-1 Brighton

A scare for Liverpool as Lewis Dunk's cross is not dealt with at all well and Simon Adingra is onto the loose ball. His shot is blocked but the flag then goes up with Dunk having been offside.

Salah wins the header on the edge and everyone stands still. Luis Diaz is the only one on the move. Brilliant finish.

  6. goal

GOAL - Liverpool 1-1 Brightonpublished at 27 mins

    Luis Diaz

    The hosts are level!

A corner is headed back into the box and Luis Diaz pops up to volley in from close range.

Brighton's players are frustrated, they think there's a push or on offside in there, but the goal stands.

A huge goal for Liverpool just as they were perhaps starting to get a bit frustrated.

Brighton look well organised so far in the game. I don't think we've seen enough of Nunez or Diaz so far.

On today's episode of bad referees, giving a yellow card for a very soft foul in the first few minutes, so now everything else will have to also be a yellow card! Masterful stuff.

    Liverpool 0-1 Brighton

The tempo has dropped for the first time in this game as Liverpool patiently build. But they quickly go up through the gears as Luis Diaz wins the Reds a corner as he tries to break into the box on the left, but the delivery from the set piece is cleared.

Imagine how many goals Salah would score and assist with if he had a right foot.

Aside from the goal, it has been Liverpool who have done all the running.

The home side have hogged possession and territory - shown in our graphic below - as they look to break Brighton down.

The visitors are defending deep in a compact shape, looking to counter quickly down the flanks when they get an opportunity.

Now Pascal Gross is booked for Brighton for a challenge on Alexis Mac Allister.

We are almost halfway through this first half. It has flown by.

Salah is getting closer to finding the target. We're going to be mentioning that side all afternoon. Neither Bradley or Adingra want to defend.

  14. CLOSE!published at 20 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Brighton

Mohamed Salah again! This time he shoots first time from Conor Bradley's pass inside the box but again fails to put it on target.

If Brighton can just play that perfect pass, they'll get Adingra in all afternoon. Liverpool have to be careful there.

  16. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Brighton

Brighton players are really quick to close down their opponents but Mohamed Salah is still causing problems as he first sees a shot charged down before then volleying over from a ball over the top.

There's much less of a tug by on Adingra than moments earlier on Nunez. The latter is a foul but the former not. Where is the consistency?

Jarell Quansah goes on a run through the middle but he runs into a group of Brighton players and Jan Paul van Hecke gets the challenge in.

There's not enough contact there for me to justify a free kick, Adingra was looking for it. Seems a strange decision to me.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Brighton

Simon Adingra, who has been a real menace for Liverpool in these early stages, is pulled back by Alexis Mac Allister as he charges off down the left again.

A fairly tame challenge but David Coote feels it is enough to warrant a yellow card.
