Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn boss John Eustace, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I am extremely proud of the players. It was a group effort. If we are going to be successful at anything we do this year it is about the squad of players.
"That was our sixth game in 18 days so the squad was important tonight and everyone was at it.
"We are improving with every game we played and that was probably the best we played with the ball.
"I am also really proud of the supporters. It was a real club effort tonight.
"I have no problems with anyone missing penalties, I am proud of them for stepping up."

Newcastle United
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I think there is only one emotion and that is relief. I think it was a hard-fought cup tie. Both sides gave everything to get the win and didn't give an inch but we are delighted to be in the hat for the next round.
"They packed the backline and packed the midfield so it was difficult for us to penetrate them. It could have been better but we got that first goal and it was a really well-worked goal.
"The lads kept their heads and remained calm and I think every penalty was taken well.
"I think when you see the season we have had and the situation we are in, this was never going to be an easy cup tie. Martin [Dubravka] made some great saves that we needed him to make and we also missed some golden opportunities in the final third.
"The most important thing is that our season cracks on and we are thrilled to get through to the next round."

Luton Town
Luton Town boss Rob Edwards, speaking to ITV: "Manchester City were pretty good, weren't they? We came up against a brilliant team and brilliant individuals who are well coached.
"We are going to evolve and hopefully get better. We are not going to change even though tonight we left ourselves exposed at times. At 3-2 we are in the game. The fourth one was obviously a bit of a killer.
"We could have been a bit better. We are quite bold. Sometimes when you come up against that kind of opposition you get a bit of a doing."

Newcastle United
Newcastle United matchwinner Martin Dubravka speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was a very difficult match. A lot of chances on both sides and all of a sudden we had penalties. It is a lottery but I am glad I could help the team."
On the penalty shootout: "I think we were well prepared. We analyse everything and try to bring it on the pitch. I need to mention the goalkeeper coaches who make it much easier for me."
On the impact of the result: "I hope it will lift our confidence. We needed a lift after the Arsenal game and we created a lot of chances. We have to take the positives and we are in the next round and we are looking forward to it."

Alan Shearer
Former England and Newcastle striker on BBC One
Blackburn were really well organised and made it tough for Newcastle. Over the 90 minutes they were the better side.
Great credit to them and John Eustace. If they play like that they will have no issues this season with relegation.

But Newcastle advance, just about, with a massive result to keep alive their hopes of salvaging something memorable from this season. What a cup tie. Newcastle scrape through.

Alan Shearer
Former England and Newcastle striker on BBC One
It is a massive result for Newcastle and Eddie Howe. They needed this. It's pretty worrying that it didn't look like they had energy, but that might galvanise them and give them a bit of hope. It is a huge, huge win.
They've had some really tough draws in the Cups this year, so who knows?

I feel for Blackburn. Newcastle owe Martin Dubravka a lot, he's made a lot of good saves tonight and he made two saves in the shootout. They owe him a huge debt. They are in the next round because of him.

They have got that man to thank. That is a brilliant save from Dubravka.
Now they have got a bit of luck. Could it be their year?

Credit to Blackburn, they gave Newcastle a real game and had the chances to progress before penalties, but it is the Premier League side who come out on top in the penalty shoot-out.
Dominic Hyam (saved)
Martin Dúbravka is the hero as he turns it away.
Newcastle are through!
