After Kevin de Bruyne volleys straight at Tim Krul, Erling Haaland hits the follow-up towards the net but the Luton keeper makes a good save.

Fans on the opposite side of the ground thought that shot from Sammie Szmodics, on his left foot after being played in by John Buckley's perfectly-weighted pass, had gone in and some started to cheer.

It couldn't have been much closer and it hit the top of the side netting, close to the post, but Szmodics was unable to get his 24th goal of the season in all competitions, for now.

That's the closest either side has come so far.

Paul: City doing well without Phil Foden, I didn't think that was possible!

Myles: No fairytale at Luton. The big bad wolf has already eaten Grandma.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February

    Luton 0-2 Man City

A chance for Erling Haaland to complete a hat-trick inside 25 minutes but Tim Krul makes a fine save to thwart him.

Applauded by the manager in front of us, it was lovely by Tyrhys Dolan, slides it into John Buckley who glides across the turf. It's into the path of Sammie Szmodics who pulls away from Lascelles and fires it high into the side-netting. That's the best passage of play they've had.

    Best move of the match.

Not a bad strike but he probably didn't connect with it the way he would have wanted.

  9. CLOSE!published at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February

    Blackburn 0-0 Newcastle

Nice attack by Blackburn as the ball is fed through to Sammie Szmodics by John Buckley. Szmodics has sight of goal but drives his shot the wrong side of the woodwork. Really good move and chance for the hosts.

Is Kevin de Bruyne the best player on the planet right now?

With Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo past their peak, De Bruyne has returned to the side after serious injury to drive his side towards another possible Treble.

Luton simply cannot deal with him.

A big roar from the away fans as Newcastle win a corner. The visitors have been starting to dominate possession but without really threatening, and the delivery from the corner is cleared.

It's a long way back for Luton. Jack Grealish creates space for himself on the edge of the box before testing Tim Krul. The Treble chasers are dominating.

There was speculation Pep Guardiola might rest Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne with the Manchester derby around the corner.

Luton will wish he had. The City duo are running riot at Kenilworth Road.

  18. Home fans protest at ownerspublished at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February

    Blackburn 0-0 Newcastle

    Michael Emons

There were between 15-20 tennis balls thrown on to the pitch from fans in the corner of the Ronnie Clayton Blackburn End (the end Blackburn are defending in the first half) to cause a brief stoppage.

"We want Venky's out," is the chant from some home fans aimed at the owners of the club.

We have seen similar protests using tennis balls in many Bundesliga matches recently, with fans there protesting against an investment proposal by the German Football Association. The investment proposal has since been dropped in Germany.

When the protests happened in the games in Germany it normally forced a delay of about 10 minutes and sometimes the teams left the pitch, but thankfully the tennis balls were quickly cleared here and we're back in action.

  20. 'Disappointing the way the club's gone'published at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February

    Blackburn 0-0 Newcastle

    Stephen Warnock

It's disappointing the way the club's gone, it's a completely different way to the days I was here. You look at some of the players and the money they could have recouped at times, it could've been a completely different story.
