She has been a pioneer, and can Chelsea finish with the quadruple? You'd be brave to go against that.

Everton earned high praise from Emma Hayes in midweek, with the outgoing Chelsea manager conceding that the Toffees caused her side issues despite falling to two comprehensive defeats earlier this season.

"I like the way they play football. They build up really well, very intricate between the boxes. When they came to us [in the WSL at Kingsmeadow] they caused us problems.

She added, "It is difficult to get a press on them. They keep the ball really well in their shape, generally very compact in a three-back system. I actually quite like watching them play."

Everton manager Brian Sorensen dismissed the idea that quarter-final opponents Chelsea could be hampered by fatigue having travelled to Manchester in the League Cup in midweek, even joking that he wished they had been taken to extra time on Thursday.

"I was hoping that Man City would score at the end so that they had to play an extra 30 minutes! I think they were ruthless with the chances they created, as nomrmal, put one in, and defended really well in the key moments. "The keeper [Hampton] was excellent in key moments for them as well.

He continued, "That's Chelsea, they know how to win. If they have a lead they can keep on to it, they have the quality. That is nothing new, nothing that we didn't already know or that was surprising.

He added, "They are used to playing back to back to back games, three games in a week. Sometimes I don't think that fatigue even plays into it. That win in midweek will have given them a lot of confidence ahead of our FA Cup tie on Sunday."

Given the contrasting fortunes of the two sides in recent years, it is unsurprising that the recent head to head record is stacked heavily in Chelsea’s favour.

Emma Hayes’ side won both WSL fixtures between the team this term by a 3-0 score line.

However three of Chelsea’s five goal scorers across the two WSL victories will not be available to them this time around.

Forward Sam Kerr is still undergoing lengthy rehab for an ACL injury, Jessie Fleming departed the club for NWSL side Portland Thorns in January, and Guro Reiten could possibly be ruled out through injury after coming off during their League Cup win at Man City in midweek.

Ahead of her side's away trip to Everton, Emma Hayes spoke of needing to manage the loading of her players amid their ongoing busy fixture schedule.

Chelsea beat Man City in the League Cup semi-finals on Thursday, before travelling back down to London for training on Saturday, and will head back up to Merseyside for the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

"We just have to get the loading right. Some players may not even see the [training] pitch on Saturday... It will be a case of going from game to game because of the accumulation. We just have to be smart. Use the performance and medical teams."

She added, "There are players that sat on the bench tonight [Thursday] that will play on Sunday. It will be important that we get as fresh as possible, recover and then try to put a team out."

With Emma Hayes set to bid farewell at the end of the season, her side have the chance to give her a sensational send-off in the form of a Quadruple.

Only one side in English football history have won four trophies in one season before; Arsenal in 2006-07, who were led by manager Vic Akers and then assistant coach Emma Hayes.

With the Blues already qualified for the League Cup final, Champions League quarter-finals, and leading the WSL title race on goals scored, they can edge one step closer to a four-trophy-triumph with victory this afternoon.

We start the day with Chelsea’s trip to Walton Hall Park.

The FA Cup holders are still going strong in all four competitions as the business end of the season comes into view.

They took another step closer to securing one quarter of a possible quadruple on Thursday night when they overcame Manchester City to reach the League Cup final.

Opponents Everton have endured a difficult season so far, currently sitting 10th in the table with the looming threat of relegation a real worry for much of the campaign.

However, a 3-0 win over Aston Villa in the fourth round of the FA Cup and a thumping 7-1 win over Nottingham Forest in the fifth will have given them hope that they can put in a battling display this afternoon.
