Free kick to City on the edge of the box, central to goal.

Bunny Shaw with more fantastic attacking play to hold off two Chelsea defenders and lure a tired challenge to earn an unchallenged shooting opportunity in front of goal.

    Oof.

A moment of desperation from Khiara Keating almost presents Chelsea with a chance to seal victory.

The young keeper runs out of her goal to clear a Chelsea attack and passes straight to Erin Cuthbert.

Thankfully for Keating the Chelsea skipper's tired legs can't get enough power on the chip to reach the net, and Kerstin Casparij rescues the situation in her own six yard box.

Took it quickly and straight at Hannah Hampton from Chloe Kelly. Tonight City have had opportunities but are guilty of not making those clinical shots on goal to make Hampton work. Yes Hampton has made good saves, but lots have been straight at her.

    Man City 0-1 Chelsea

Chelsea are just dropping deeper and deeper as time ticks down to the finish.

City are lacking that composure and quality they dearly need if they are to secure a late leveller.

    Man City 0-1 Chelsea

Five minutes plus stoppage time remain for Man City to find an equaliser.

They are still creating chances but have yet to force more than a few top tier saves from Chelsea keeper Hannah Hampton.

    Man City 0-1 Chelsea

As it stands Chelsea are heading for a fifth consecutive League Cup final appearance.

They have won two and lost two of the previous four, including a 3- defeat to Arsenal last season, their would-be opponents in this year's final should they see this result through.

  9. Postpublished at 20:59 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March

    Man City 0-1 Chelsea

First meaningful involvement in the game for both City substitutes.

Mary Fowler executes a neat turn in the middle before getting a decent cross into the box.

City recycle the attack and Filippa Angeldahl has a free header in the middle. The effort is straight at Hannah Hampton though, and poses little trouble for the Chelsea keeper.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:57 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March

    Man City 0-1 Chelsea

Into the final ten minutes in Manchester and the home side have made a second change.

Filippa Angeldahl has come on in place of Laura Coombs for the final ten minutes or so.

Almost an immediate impact from substitute Sophie Ingle, although not in the way most of us would have expected.

She meets the Chelsea corner in the middle of the box, but can only direct a shot wide of the target.

  12. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:55 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March

    Man City 0-1 Chelsea

Lauren James has her arms in the air, appealing for a penalty.

A replay shows that defender Laia Alexandri did in fact hit the ball with her hand as she tried to cover the Chelsea forward's shot on goal.

No penalty though, and Chelsea instead have a corner.

    City are going for this.

They take off a defender in Leila Ouahabi and replace her with another forward in Mary Fowler.

City's best moments have come when they hit Chelsea with numbers on the break. That change is only going to increase their attacking threat.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:53 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March

    Man City 0-1 Chelsea

An immediate response from Emma Hayes as she opts to take off Jelena Cankovic and replace her with a more defensive-minded player in Sophie Ingle.

Chloe Kelly floats a corner from the right hand side towards Khadija Shaw at the back post.

The Jamaican forward heads towards goal, but again it lacks power and Hannah Hampton claims above the head of Leila Ouahabi.

Another chance goes begging for Man City.

Laura Coombs and Lauren Hemp with a wonderful one-two before the latter gets a dangerous cross into the box.

Chloe Kelly arrives to meet the cross from the opposing flank but she can't sort her feet out and the ball bobbles into the grateful arms of Hannah Hampton.

Man City have yet to make any changes in this game, despite continuing to trail by one goal to nil.

Is that a sign that boss Gareth Taylor thinks his side are close to finding an equaliser perhaps?
