What a fantastic team goal from Villa!

That pass in behind from Jordan Nobbs for Adriana Leon to play her into the channel is excellent. Off the back shoulder of Lotte Wubben-Moy.

Every time Arsenal attack Villa are able to get numbers behind the ball and get a block or challenge in.

They keep recycling the possession and coming again but Villa are making it difficult for them.

They are just probing and trying to find pockets of space, Villa have not seen much of the ball in the last few minutes.

Arsenal are boosting the corner count but still yet to really test Anna Leat in the home goal.

Leat shows good handling to come off her line and gather the set-piece nicely.

Aston Villa yet to have a shot on or off target, nor a corner, not even a foul. But it's still goalless.

Frida Maanum tries an effort but Danielle Turner makes a crucial interception, although the Gunners come again and Alessia Russo, back in the starting 11 after being left out against Chelsea, heads straight at home goalkeeper Anna Leat.

Really good counter from Aston Villa down the right hand side.

I don't think there is much Lotte Wubben-Moy can do about that. The ball flicks up and does hit her arm, but I think the referee has made the right call on that one.

Aston Villa spring an attack down the right wing, Jordan Nobbs and Sarah Mayling are involved and Ebony Salmon gains possession and crosses.

The ball strikes the arm of close-by Gunners defender Lotte Wubben-Moy, but her arm was at the side of the body and referee Stacey Pearson is not interested in Villa's calls for a penalty.

Leanne Hall, Villa's assistant manager, is the one handing out the instructions from the dug out, but the cameras have spotted boss Carla Ward in the Villa Park seats frantically taking down some notes on where her side can make improvements.

Half a chance for Arsenal and England forward Beth Mead, but it is good defending from Danielle Turner to quickly block the space and charge down the shot.

Arsenal have lost three of their last four away games in the WSL (won one), including each of the past two; they’ve never lost three successive away matches in the competition before.

Indeed, another away loss this season would be their fourth, and subsequently their most in a single campaign of the WSL.

However, only Bristol City (0) have won fewer points at home in the WSL this season than Aston Villa (four), losing five of their seven such games in 2023-24 (won one, drawn one).

We talked about Aston Villa being organised but on the break just then as Jordan Nobbs was driving forward she had no one to pass to.

She was dispossessed and straight away Arsenal were on the counter and we know the quality they have up front. It was desperate defending from Villa then to prevent a goal.

Another chance from distance for Arsenal's Kim Little. Her effort would've crept in the bottom corner, but solid goalkeeping from Aston Villa's Anna Leat to save low down at her right-hand post.

Villa boss Carla Ward has been struggling with illness and she is at Villa Park, but not in the home side's dugout tonight.

Adriana Leon takes on Leah Williamson and looks to run through on the Arsenal goal, but away goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger has a good starting spot and is able to clean up the danger.

The organisation from Villa is really good.

Out of possession they are set up in a 3-5-2 and making it really difficult for Arsenal to find those passing lanes.

When they do win possession of the ball though they are finding it hard to get into the right areas and make their own chances.

Arsenal win a corner and Beth Mead whips it in. It falls to Kim Little, just outside of the penalty area, and she has the time to get a shot away, but it bounces off a home defender and away for another corner.

The second one comes to nothing though.
