Sparta Prague v Liverpool (17:45 GMT)

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Football Daily podcast

    On Liverpool's recent run...

It's almost been magical what [Klopp's] done. It's something special because you think there have been too many changes and that too many big players are out but they just keep going.

There are plenty of teams that have come to Sparta and have come a cropper but he [Klopp] won't feel that way.

He's managed this sequence of games incredibly well so far.

  2. 'Villa on a bit of a roll'published at 17:01 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March

It may be a big week for Aston Villa, but I think they will only be prioritising the game that is in front of them right now so that is Ajax.

Because of the way they are, I do not think they can operate much differently to that. It is great that for them that the second leg is at Villa Park, but for now they just prioritise the game in front of them.

Villa are also on a bit of a roll. Sure, they lost to Manchester United - it was a bit of a hiccup - but they have bounced back well and the late goal at Luton Town at the weekend would have filled them with confidence.

The Premier League match against Tottenham on Sunday is right up there as potentially top-four deciding - it could be a sensational game.

The fact that Tottenham do not have a game in midweek, does make it advantage Spurs, but Villa have a little more knowhow when they are out of possession. We saw against Manchester City and Arsenal that they can sit and delay. They are able to do that when under pressure whereas I don't think Spurs can wait defensively for that long.

Although Spurs have a slight advantage, I do think Villa will be more confident, regardless of fatigue from going away to Ajax. They will have watched Tottenham's match last week and know they need to block out the middle areas. Spurs struggled against Crystal Palace and were quite rigid with the back five so it will be a little different for Villa.

It will be an interesting end-to-end game.

I think he’s [Jurgen Klopp] going to take it really seriously, to be very honest. I don’t necessarily think that it’s the most important trophy of the four that they could possibly win and in particularly he’ll give the upmost respect to the opposition who are at the top of their respective leagues but I think he’ll know that the Manchester City is going to be a more difficult game, a more difficult challenge.

Sparta Prague away will be hard, of course it is before the Manchester City game but he also knows that he’s got Anfield in five or six days’ time to rectify any mistakes. So he has got two bites at this particular game.
