Motherwell are applying some impressive pressure early on in this one. If the game plan is to play balls over the top for the likes of Theo Bair and Jack Vale to run on to and create problems, it's working. Celtic will need to be switched on to that.

Celtic absolutely need a performance and they need a result.

Brendan Rodgers has been searching for a team. I've been saying for weeks they need someone in midfield that can pick a pass.

Callum McGregor can bring that, be creative, and bring the best out of Matt O'Riley.

But if they can get a first goal and create tension in the away support, maybe they can get something.

It's a huge afternoon for everybody involved.

Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell says he has belief in his side to frustrate a Celtic team intent on cutting the gap to Rangers.

"You face them with no fear, and that's with no disrespect," he told BBC Scotland. "You simply have to believe in your group of players and what you're doing. If I don't show that belief, that cascades through the playing squad.

"We're in decent form. We feel like we could have got more out of games. There's a bit of youth in there for us. No matter what happens, I think they come out better for it playing against the level of team Celtic are.

"Lots of people have their opinions on Celtic and Rangers. I try and look beyond that. Everything stacks up that they're a good football team and this will be a stern test for us.

"Quite clearly, Celtic come here with a thought process of they're now behind in the league and they'll be wanting to make up that deficit."
