Zinchenko doesn't look great, hasn't for a while. Keeps dilly dallying in his own final third and it's too risky against Villa.

Woah, Oleksandr Zinchenko spots Emiliano Martinez off his line and hoofs it from midfield. It's wide, though.

    Why not, I guess.

It was a good opportunity for Watkins, he just took too long to get the shot off.

    Arsenal 0-0 Aston Villa

Most of the action has been inside the Aston Villa half so far but the visitors are just starting to creep into the game as Ollie Watkins looks to line up a shot but Leandroa Trossard has tracked all the way back to make a decent tackle.

  6. 'Sensational from Odegaard'published at 16:51 British Summer Time 14 April

    Arsenal 0-0 Aston Villa

    Danny Gabbidon

Sensational from Odegaard, he's got the vision and the execution to go with it. It's made difficult for Saka, who is unable to get it on target in the end.

  7. 'We lost conviction'published at 16:50 British Summer Time 14 April

    FT Liverpool 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to Sky Sports on where it went wrong for his side against Palace: "I am standing here and to talk about this game is really tricky. Two different games I would say, with the first half and second half. First half was absolutely not good enough so we showed a reaction. The reaction was we lost conviction from the last game. We tried to get rid of this but that work out as much as we wanted.

"To concede that goal was a horrible goal to concede with a completely free player in the area. That cannot happen but it happens. Andy Robertson gets the other ball so it's like scoring a goal if you don't concede from that. Crystal Palace didn't have many more and we controlled it better and then second half we can easily say if we don't score with these chances what can you say?

"The game in the second half was much better, Trent coming on and in the moment the structure changed. We caused problems and we had big big chances. If we stand here and win the game 4-1 we could have seen the same game with a completely different result. But we didn't so we have to take that."

What a glorious pass from Martin Odegaard, sliding along the turf for Bukayo Saka but the England frontman gets it wrong and smacks it into the side netting.

    Arsenal 0-0 Aston Villa

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Emirates Stadium

Aston Villa, as you would expect under a manager of Unai Emery's pedigree, look very well organised as the Spaniard tries to put the skids under his former club's Premier League title challenge.

Arsenal are probing patiently - and they may just need a lot of patience today.

  10. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Aston Villa

Arsenal's best chance so far as Bukayo Saka cuts inside and sends a ball to the far post but Gabriel Jesus heads wide from a few yards out.

It's tight but it is off, good defending from Aston Villa.

Oleksandr Zinchenko floats a decent ball over the top to Kai Havertz, who has two Aston Villa defenders on him trying to nip the ball away but it's tough work for the German striker and Emiliano Martinez is able to come out and make the save.

    The offside flies up, anyway.

  13. 'Was this a hangover? Yes'published at 16:46 British Summer Time 14 April

    FT: Liverpool 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Liverpool

More from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to Sky Sports on whether his side are suffering from a hangover to their 3-0 defeat to Atalanta in the Europa League: "Could be. If you would look to my teams over the years, I think you could say our pressing is usually good. Counterpress is there. The first half we were open like 'how can that happen?' Curtis [Jones] was the only one really chasing, really getting out and from time to time broke their rhythm. Beisde that they [Palace] could just play through. They [Liverpool] were horrible to watch.

"Was this a hangover? Yes. That's how humans react sometimes. It's not great but it happens. The conviction wasn't there. We were much too far apart from each other. Last line too deep, the midfield wasn't really there, first line didn't start the press. So that's all true.

"Where it's coming from? How can I answer that one 100%? But it's only a few days ago that we played a bad game so it might have something to do with that. Actually it was a really good game, without scoring. But it's not that easy unfortunately."

Bukayo Saka went side to side with Morgan Rogers and ended up crashing into him quite heavily and seems to still be feeling the after-effects of that.

He's hobbling around a little holding his hip.

  15. 'A good reaction save'published at 16:42 British Summer Time 14 April

    Arsenal 0-0 Aston Villa

    Danny Gabbidon
Former Wales defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

A decent save, a good reaction save. Havertz made that late dart in behind and he gets fed in. Hits the target, a decent save. Diego Carlos is desperately trying to get across but can't, a good reaction save.

  16. 'A great win for Crystal Palace' - Glasnerpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 14 April

    FT Liverpool 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner to BBC's Match of the Day: "It's an outstanding win at Anfield, it's so difficult to win here. How they played, especially in the first half, is so nice to see. In the second half, there was a lot of pressure from Liverpool. Congratulations to the team on this performance today.

On playing with their own identity: "It's what we always talk about. Tomorrow we can say we did it our way, you can always lose here, but it's about being able to express yourself and play with confidence. We cleared many situations under pressure with one/two touch. We scored an amazing goal. it's about confidence, team spirit, passion.

On making 21 passes in the build-up to the goal: "I thought it was a maximum 15 so again, applause to the team. It's always easy before a game to say pass here and here on the screen. There was good runs in the box, you get space in the cut backs, it was a nice goal.

Do you have an understanding of what you're trying to do?: "The clear picture I had before, but it's always being able to adapt and fit to the players. I wouldn't tell a player to sing if they can't sing, if someone asked me to sing it would be terrible. It's still on the way, the first half was excellent, in the second half we can do better, but the passion and the spirit was there today.

What's next moving forward?: "Next week we face West Ham and we need the same spirit and the same power. I think today will give us confidence, but we need to stay humble. We will have an intense training week again, we will analyse well but it is always to do your job at your best level because we are playing against the best teams. Again, a great win for Crystal Palace and the team."

  19. 'We weren't great' - Klopppublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 14 April

    FT Liverpool 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to BBC's Match of the Day: "The stats in the first half won't be as great as the stats in the second half. I think that was pretty obvious we didn't play a good first half. We wanted a reaction and we saw a reaction.

"It wasn't a fully convinced team on the pitch. It's a really difficult one. We weren't great. Crystal Palace had far too many football moments where we ran in the wrong direction.

"In more than 20 years when you watch my teams, the press and counter press is pretty good, some days it is outstanding. In the first half, it was nothing and then we were 1-0 down.

"Second half, we tried to change the formation and dynamic that wasn't tricky for Crystal Palace. You could stand here on another day and see the same balls go in and we're talking about a 4-1 win, but football doesn't work like that."

A hangover from the Atalanta defeat?: "I really don't know, I couldn't say that. I would say with the chances we had, we were really unlucky. What could Darwin do with his chance or Mo. Good defending from Mitchell. In the second half, Crystal Palace were lucky we didn't punish them but that's why we are stood here with no points and Crystal Palace have three."

Bukayo Saka gets in behind but Youri Tielemans blocks his pass from getting into the box.

This, by the way, is William Saliba's 43rd start of the season for Arsenal, the most of any outfield player for a Premier League team across all competitions in 2023-24. What a stalwart he has been in defence for them this campaign.
