  1. 'I told board they need to get manager in' - Warnockpublished at 15:07 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

More from former Aberdeen boss Neil Warnock, who stepped down after today's win over Kilmarnock: "I've told them they need to get a manager in to look at the squad because I think it needs quite an overhaul in the summer.

"If anything, I've contributed to making them realise and get a move on. They're very close down the line to get someone in now.

"I've met some great people. I'm just glad I got to a semi-final so the fans have something to look forward to. There's some keyboard warriors, but that's everywhere."

"I wanted to come up here and it has been a bit of a eye opener for me. I wish I had been here a year and had a couple of transfer windows."

  2. 'Shambles'published at 15:04 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    Michael Stewart
Former Scotland international on BBC Sportsound

    It's an absolute shambles.

The level of revisionism that is going on here is incredible.

  3. 'Right time' to leave - Warnockpublished at 15:00 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

Neil Warnock says he's glad to leave Aberdeen on a high after steering them into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

"I only came up to help Dave and Alan out and try and steady the ship. Unfortunately we have't got the right results in the league.

"They're well on their way to getting a new manager. I've been telling them they have to push forward now. I though it was the right time.

"We decided in midweek that today was going to be the day. I'm glad I left on a high because the lads were fantastic today. I was quite proud of them."

  5. 'Nightmare situation'published at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Sportsound

It's hard to believe that this is happening. It's a nightmare situation.

You appoint a manager for a short period of time and he's walked away from the job.

The performances have been poor but they have been improving. You're into the semi-finals, so I just wonder what has gone on.

    My reaction was "WHIT?"

It's how it looks overall. It looks horrific. It's incredible.

  8. 'Search for new manager at advanced stage'published at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack has thanked Neil Warnock for his service and said the club's search for a new manager is already close to a conclusion.

“The Club would like to thank both Neil and Ronnie Jepson for their efforts," he said in a club statement.

“With the search for a new manager at an advanced stage, Peter Leven will assume control of all first team matters until the process is concluded.”

The office with a collective "WHAT?" when that news broke.

We'll have all the reaction as it comes in. Still shocked.

Unfortunately, the Sportscene team didn't have time to catch up with either managers before going off the air.

Fear not, they will be on our dedicated Aberdeen and Kilmarnock pages as soon as we can. Plenty of analysis and reaction to come too.

  13. 'Kennedy a real loss'published at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

A big blow going out the cup, of course.

There was a real loss to them today in Matty Kennedy. Just for that imbalance to negate Aberdeen's system as well.

Things just did not go for them. I'm sure they'll freshen up and go again.

Aberdeen midfielder Jamie McGrath tells BBC Scotland: "As a player this is what you aim for all season, to make it to a cup semi or a final. And we are one step closer now. It's more pleasing is to get that win and put that run behind us.

"We're saying inside that we can't let this be a flash in the pan. He have to build on this. We got the rub of the green today and probably deserving of it to go through.

"We got the luck today we haven't got in the past few weeks but the work rate was there to see. We out-battled them."

Aberdeen captain and Player of the Match Graeme Shinnie tells BBC Scotland: "I'm delighted. Our form hasn't been great recently. We knew what was coming, we have played Kilmarnock three times this season and we haven't been good enough.

"Today I thought we were brilliant. The complete contrast of what we have been, especially against them. I thought we dominated and bullied them, and thoroughly deserved the win in the end.

"It's only one game so I'm not going to over-exaggerate anything. We know what we still need to do. To be at Hampden again for the club and the fans is massive. We've wanted to give something back to the fans for their backing during this horrendous period.

"I'm suspended now for the semi-final. I put the ball through his legs and he's wiped me out. I can't miss a semi-final over that, it's a clear foul. I can't say much as it gets me in trouble. It's taken the shine of the game a little bit the fact that I'm now going to miss a semi-final."
