    Aberdeen 3-1 Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock have shown they're capable of a late show this season.

Their Scottish Cup dreams are a knife's edge. They need another one, and soon.

    Aberdeen 3-1 Kilmarnock

Finally got an angle that shows where Jamie McGrath's strike would have ended up, that being the corner flag.

It means Stuart Findlay will have an own goal against his name for Aberdeen's third.

    Kilmarnock are leaving themselves open.

They haven't reacted particularly well to losing that third goal. Disjointed, not organised.

    Aberdeen 3-1 Kilmarnock

    Aberdeen are rampant here.

They come flying forward again and Junior Hoilett spurns the chance to make it even more comfortable.

Pittodrie hasn't sounded like this in quite some time.

GOAL! Aberdeen 3-1 Kilmarnockpublished at 66 mins

    Jamie McGrath

    Two-goal lead = restored.

Again, it comes from the searing pace of Jack MacKenzie, who leaves the Kilmarnock defence in his wake.

He tees up Jamie McGrath and the Irishman's strike deflects of Stuart Findlay and loops into the back of the net.

Aberdeen deal with a Kilmarnock corner and almost spring another counter.

Guess who's there to stop it? Lewis Mayo. He's snuffed out multiple attacks from the hosts in this second period.

    Aberdeen 2-1 Kilmarnock

The home crowd absolutely loving the effort and desire from captain Graeme Shinnie.

He snaps into another challenge before being penalised for a flailing arm which saw Danny Armstrong go to the deck.

The midfielder is setting the standard in this improved Aberdeen display.

  11. 'Kilmarnock wide open'published at 55 mins

    Aberdeen 2-1 Kilmarnock

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Sportsound

Kilmarnock are wide open from their own set-piece, they have got to be better organised than that.

Miovski has got to take a better touch. That's not like him. His touch has let him down.

  12. Postpublished at 54 mins

    Aberdeen 2-1 Kilmarnock

Jack MacKenzie again scorching up the park.

He leaves Joe Wright for dead and cuts the ball back, only for Lewis Mayo to step in again and turn the ball behind.

The Aberdeen full-back is having one of the better offensive performances I've seen him turn in.

    Aberdeen 2-1 Kilmarnock

Opportunity for Aberdeen to break away, and you wouldn't want it to fall to anyone other than Bojan Miovski.

On this occasion, the striker's touch is far too heavy and Lewis Mayo sweeps up. Home crowd were up on their feet in expectation.

    Aberdeen 2-1 Kilmarnock

Not quite the same pace in this half so far, which is welcome news to absolutely nobody except my fingers.

  15. 'Nervy side to Dons'published at 49 mins

    Billy Dodds

They deserve to be in front, but there looks a nervy side to Aberdeen.

It's there for everyone to see.

    Aberdeen 2-1 Kilmarnock

Quick start from Kilmarnock in this second period.

A slew of balls are chucked into the box and Aberdeen frantically attempt to clear their lines.

This is a huge mental test for the home side now.

  17. YELLOW CARDpublished at 46 mins

    Aberdeen 2-1 Kilmarnock

Absolute cruncher for Jack MacKenzie on Danny Armstrong.

Easy booking for John Beaton and the young full-back will have to be careful now.

  18. Postpublished at 46 mins

    Aberdeen 2-1 Kilmarnock

Off we go again at Pittodrie.

Derek McInnes makes a change in search of more width, as central midfielder David Watson is replaced by winger Fraser Murray.

  19. 'Doubt will start to creep in'published at 13:17 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2024

    HT: Aberdeen 2-1 Kilmarnock

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Sportsound

Aberdeen will be fragile. They get the two goals, they're full of energy and they're full of positivity. Then they lose a goal, the doubt starts to creep into the mind and the fans started to turn a little bit.

You've got to be able to deal with that as a team and this season Aberdeen have not dealt with that. It's going to be a very interesting second half.

  20. 'Don't write off Kilmarnock'published at 13:16 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2024

    HT: Aberdeen 2-1 Kilmarnock

    Michael Stewart
Former Scotland international on BBC Sportsound

Aberdeen could not have wished for a better start to get themselves two in front and you could see the confidence come back into the side.

But you can't write Kilmarnock off. It's a team of substance and that believe in themselves. That goal from Danny Armstrong just before half-time is a massive one.

The goal will give Kilmarnock that belief there is still something in the game for them, and it plants that seed of doubt in a team already full of doubt.
