This man was excellent today. A true captain's performance.

Kilmarnock's away form trips them up again.

They did win twice against lower league opposition in the League Cup group stages, but away from the comforts of Rugby Park, they've only beat top-flight opposition twice on the road this season.

    Homesick.

Warnock will be very happy that Aberdeen have won a game, are through to the semi-finals and have got to Hampden.

They had to start somewhere to build some momentum to avoid being dragged into a relegation fight and also with that victory, they progress to a semi-final.

It's a big result for them against a good side. It was comfortable. The fact they defended properly, an Achilles Heel for them all season, they've not defended well enough, but today they were far better. They didn't give Kilmarnock any easy opportunities and they were able to build from there.

  4. Shinnie suspended for semipublished at 14:17 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

Dons fans won't thank me for putting a dampner on their afternoon, but captain Graeme Shinnie will miss the semi-final after his booking for dissent at the end of the game.

Looking back at the incident, you can understand why the skipper was so upset not to have been awarded a foul.

    27 years.

Given how well Kilmarnock have performed in the league this term, they were favourites to reach Hampden and end the long wait for a Scottish Cup semi-final.

It will be a huge disappointment for Derek McInnes' men. They look absolutely gutted.

Neil Warnock is having a good time with the Aberdeen fans out there.

That victory lifts some of the pressure that was building up on the veteran manager.

  7. FULL-TIME Aberdeen 3-1 Kilmarnockpublished at 14:08 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

A huge win for Aberdeen as they progress to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

Kilmarnock's cup curse continues. They haven't reached the last four of this famous old competition since they lifted the trophy in 1997.

Neil Warnock may be waiting for a league win, but his dream of winning the cup is still alive.

Is this the moment the Dons' season turns?

Aberdeen are managing this well. Keeping the ball in the opposite half and not giving Kilmarnock a sniff.

The Red Shed is loud, and for the first time in a while, it's loud with love for their team.

Kilmarnock's 27-year wait for a Scottish Cup semi-final is about to be extended, unless they can conjure up something special.

When you've got Armstrong and Kennedy on the field, you know you've got width and quality in these areas. They're difficult to pin down.

From the creativity point of view, they are able to whip balls in and really test defenders.

Unfortunately, with Kennedy not being available and Armstrong going off, it's a big ask to for Kilmarnock to turn this around.
