That was a tough test for Hearts, Morton put so much into it.

One opportunity is all they needed. They're through to the semi-finals, and that's all that matters.

GOAL Morton 0-1 Heartspublished at 85 mins

    Kenneth Vargas

Hearts finally have the breakthrough and surely they are on the road to Hampden!

Beni Baningime drives forward a clinical counter-attack from his own half before playing in Lawrence Shankland.

The skipper just looked to have overplayed it, but he cushions it for Vargas who managed to slide it beneath Ryan Mullen for his third goal in three Scottish Cup games.

Five minutes of the 90 left.

    Breathtaking stuff.

  8. 'Morton looking leggy'published at 21:25 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March

    Morton 0-0 Hearts

    Ryan McGowan
Former Hearts defender on BBC Scotland

I think this is probably the first time in the game where Morton look a little bit leggy.

They have done so well to limit Hearts but the players are just half a yard off.

I think not having the options to bring off the bench is killing them but they are still in the game.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 80 mins

    Morton 0-0 Hearts

Aidan Denholm, just on, is slipped in by Stephen Kingsley but Ryan Mullen superbly stops him with a neat save.

At what cost, though? He's done receiving treatment.

Cammy Devlin fed Shankland through there. It's proved to be his final act.

Aidan Denholm, who just turned 20, is on for the final 10 minutes or so.

That is the opportunity Hearts have been waiting for this whole second half and they've blown it.

  12. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 77 mins

    Morton 0-0 Hearts

    How is this still 0-0?!

Lawrence Shankland is through on goal, but he can't get the ball from beneath his feet to get the shot away.

He does the manage to play in Kenneth Vargas.

A huge opportunity, nearly an open goal, he lifts it too high, though and his effort clips the crossbar and it sails into the sea of travelling fans.

    Was that the chance?

    Jim Duffy
    Ex-Morton manager on BBC Sportsound

Hearts are expected to be in semi-finals and finals.

In the performance up to now, you wouldn't say they deserve it but all they need is one chance.

    Morton 0-0 Hearts

    Ryan McGowan
Former Hearts defender on BBC Scotland

Steven Naismith is encouraging them to get it into Alan Forrest or Lawrence Shankland's feet.

Because of the occasion they seem to be a little bit nervous to take that risk that's going to get them the goal.

Cammy Devlin just trying to place one beyond Ryan Mullen, but the Morton 'keeper shifts his feet well to get across and catch the effort from the edge of the area.

    Ex-Dumbarton manager on BBC Sportsound

Hearts are hanging on a little bit here.

They had that one chance from Beni Baningime but apart from that, Ryan Mullen has had very little to do.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 63 mins

    Morton 0-0 Hearts

While David Dickinson has his pencil out, Kirk Broadfoot makes sure his name is scribbled down.

He's said something to one of the officials in the aftermath of that Lawrence Shankland hurl and has worked his way into the little book.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 62 mins

    Morton 0-0 Hearts

Lawrence Shankland throws Lewis Strapp to the deck with force and a yellow card is given to the Hearts skipper.

It's right in front of the Cowshed and they are crying for a different colour of card.
