    Stockport 2-0 MK Dons

Well the rain has stopped. There is an eerie calm over the ground. I think it's probably relief. The half-time pie and pint will be supped far more comfortably by the home faithful with a two-goal cushion.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 39 mins

    Stockport 2-0 MK Dons

It's Nick Powell's 30th birthday today... and Jack Payne has a card for him.

Well, a yellow card, for a foul on him.

  3. 'Great finish from the club captain'published at 17:53 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Alex Whitington
    BBC Radio Manchester’s Stockport reporter

Stockport have their second, and a goal that may well send them second.

He broke through the MK Dons defence, great finish from the club captain.

    So composed.

He has become a real leader for them.

Now over 50 goals for him for County.

The Hatters are in dreamland. Callum Camps pounces on a loose ball and dinks the ball through for the marauding Paddy Madden who takes a touch before slotting low past Michael Kelly to send the home fans wild.

Stockport don't deserve it, but they have a two-goal lead in a huge game at the top of League Two.

That's 15 for the season for Madden.

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 33 mins

    Stockport 1-0 MK Dons

Joe Tomlinson beats the Hatters defence but his low strike from the bouncing ball is well blocked by Ben Hinchliffe before Alex Gilbey's acrobatic follow-up is hooked past the unguarded net.

  6. 'What is the 'keeper doing there, that is a howler'published at 17:49 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Steve O'Halloran
Former Stockport defender on BBC Radio Manchester

This has come against the run of play.

But what is the 'keeper doing there, that is a howler.

Every time he gets the ball now he will be under so much pressure from the County fans.

Michael Kelly is not really the number one nor even the number two for MK Dons really.

    Callum Camps

    A disaster for Michael Kelly!

The Dons keeper flies out to the left of his area to beat Callum Camps to a through ball but as he slides he loses his grip on the ball, Camps is alive to it, spins on a sixpence, takes a touch and whips a low finish through Jack Payne's legs and into the net from an angle.

    Stockport have a precious lead.

Mike Williamson will be devastated after a bright start from his side.

Some people are on the pitch, they think it's all over... the National League title race is now.

Chesterfield have done it. Their 3-0 win over Boreham Wood means they will return to the EFL next season after six years away. The celebrations are sure to go on well into the night, and possibly tomorrow too.

Despite thrashing Dorking this afternoon, closes challengers Barnet must regroup ahead of their play-off campaign.

Welcome back to the BBC Sport EFL Live Text to Paul Cook and the Spireites.

Stockport and MK Dons will very much be hoping they are not facing you next season...

    Stockport 0-0 MK Dons

Joe Tomlinson glides past Connor Lemonheigh-Evans down the left and fired in a low cross aiming for Alex Gilbey, who is crowded out by Fraser Horsfall.

Tomlinson has been everywhere in the Hatters half in this opening half-hour.

  10. MK Dons 'look so composed on the ball'published at 17:45 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Stockport 0-0 MK Dons

    Steve O'Halloran
Former Stockport defender on BBC Radio Manchester

Very impressed with MK Dons so far on the ball, they look so composed on the ball.

Like they have worked on their patterns of play.

They have got options, they are looking the better of the two teams the visitors.

Three wins in their last four, they are on a good recent run.

  11. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Stockport 0-0 MK Dons

Tanto Olaofe so nearly springs the offside trap, Paddy Madden just hesitates a split second before playing him through from halfway. One to watch for MK from now on though, Olaofe has pace to burn.

Alex Gilbey does break through and dinks the ball over Ben Hinchliffe at the other end but this one is a far more cut-and-dried offside. If anything can be dry at Edgeley Park at the moment....

  12. CLOSE!published at 19 mins

    Stockport 0-0 MK Dons

Kyran Lofthouse gets the better of Ibou Touray down the MK right flank and cuts back into the middle where Joe Tomlinson is denied by a good block from Todd Kane... technically good, opened his body and head over the ball, but it meant it always looked like he'd try to curl into the bottom corner, giving the defender a chance.

Jack Payne fires the eventual follow-up off target as spectators dash for cover from the elements.

  13. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Stockport 0-0 MK Dons

MK launch a break and Alex Gilbey is played down the left, he has Joe Tomlinson on the overlap but chooses not to use him, striding into the middle and unleash a curling 25-yard drive which is meat and drink for Ben Hinchliffe.

The conditions have, if possible, got even worse. You've got March winds and April showers in one go.

  14. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 12 mins

    Stockport 0-0 MK Dons

Joe Tomlinson earns a free-kick from MK. He's already causing County issues between the lines. The visitors have really grown into this one in the last 10 minutes.

Tomlinson leaves the attempt to Jack Payne who whips the ball left-footed over the wall and down towards the bottom corner where it skids wide via a kiss off the outside of the post. Ben Hinchliffe is a very relieved man.

  15. CLOSE!published at 10 mins

    Stockport 0-0 MK Dons

Emre Tezgel latches onto a loose ball as the referee plays advantage to MK, he drives into the box under intense pressure from a couple of cautious defenders but cuts back onto his left foot before sliding a low shot inches past the base of Ben Hinchliffe's far post with the keeper at full-stretch.

Mesmerising stuff from the 18-year-old. Nearly an opener.

  16. 'Superb save'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March

    Stockport 0-0 MK Dons

    Stephen O'Halloran
Ex-Salford and Stockport defender on BBC Radio Manchester

He went from villain to hero there.

Came out flapping, but what a superb follow-up save.

  17. GREAT SAVE!published at 8 mins

Ben Hinchliffe to the rescue for County. He clawed a high cross away rather unconvincingly but regathered himself to parry away Stephen Wearne's first-time effort when the ball was returned to the area from the left.

Luckily that was a good height for the keeper, and his save was one for the cameras, as they used to say.

All action start on this greasy surface.

  18. CLOSE!published at 7 mins

    Stockport 0-0 MK Dons

Fraser Horsfall nearly coughed up possession under intense pressure at one end, looking relieved to be awarded a free-kick as the last man, and straight down the other end and 14-goal Paddy Madden has lashed an opportunist volley from well outside the box just past the base of Michael Kelly's right post.

  19. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Stockport 0-0 MK Dons

Jack Payne opts to take a free-kick short for MK rather than launch it into the box from midfield and the visitors are unable to capitalise.

The weather has deteriorated rapidly... cold, windy and very wet.

A good old fashioned Stockport March evening, this.

  20. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Stockport 0-0 MK Dons

The Hatters have flown out of the blocks and are piling on the pressure.

They have Paddy Madden, Tanto Olaofe and Kyle Wootton up top. Doesn't get much more dangerous than that in League Two.
