    James McFadden
    Former Scotland forward on Sportsound

It is now how many positives can you take out of a 4-0 defeat and there's still time left on the clock as well.

  2. goal

GOAL - Netherlands 4-0 Scotlandpublished at 86 mins

    Donyell Malen

    It's a thrashing now!

Tijjani Reijnders guides a lovely pass into the path of Malen. The Borussia Dortmund forward stays on his feet and uses his strength before poking the ball beyond Angus Gunn.

Since the triple substitution, Scotland have folded.

    Netherlands 3-0 Scotland

    James McFadden
    Former Scotland forward on Sportsound

It was a let off with the initial chance for Angus Gunn.

Scott McTominay in front of Wout Weghorst mistimes his jump, Weghorst doesn't.

    Angus Gunn has no chance.

  4. goal

GOAL - Netherlands 3-0 Scotlandpublished at 84 mins

    Wout Weghorst

All of a sudden it's looking ugly!

We've praised Scotland plenty tonight but this is poor defending. Scott McTominay misjudges his jump from a corner and misses a header.

Weghorst is there to guide a header into the bottom corner.

    Netherlands 2-0 Scotland

That's good defending from Ryan Porteous.

Tijjani Reijnders plays in Teun Koopmeiners and he rounds Angus Gunn, but Porteous intercpets his ball across goal.

  6. Postpublished at 81 mins

    Netherlands 2-0 Scotland

Cody Gakpo drives infield on to his right foot and whips a shot just wide.

He's been really good tonight, the Liverpool forward. Apart from that horrendous dive in the first half.

He's replaced though, as is Memphis Depay. Daley Blind and Teun Koopmeiners are on.

  7. Wasteful Scotlandpublished at 21:26 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    Netherlands 2-0 Scotland

    Jane Lewis
BBC Scotland at Johan Cruijff Arena

This is disappointing from a Scotland point of view, they deserve to take something from this game.

Even a goal would give them something to cling to. They've created so many chances, but just can't buy a goal. Taking such chances at this level is imperative.

  8. Postpublished at 80 mins

    Netherlands 2-0 Scotland

Scotland have had 13 shots tonight. One off the post, one off the bar, and some other really good opportunities.

When it comes to the Euros, more of those need to go in.

  9. Postpublished at 21:24 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    Netherlands 2-0 Scotland

    James McFadden
    Former Scotland forward on Sportsound

You get a stark reminder that the Dutch haven't been anywhere near their best and they've managed to get two goals.

They have always looked dangerous and that is why you play these games. This is a reminder of the level you are playing at.

Teams of quality don't always have to be at their best to beat you but there are still enough positives to take from this game.

  10. Postpublished at 76 mins

    Netherlands 2-0 Scotland

Another excellent chance passes Scotland by.

Tony Ralston places the ball on to Scott McTominay's head from the right-hand side, but the midfielder miscues his header and it spins wide.

He was six-yards out and should do better I think.

It just feels so harsh for the performance Scotland have put in.

  12. goal

GOAL - Netherlands 2-0 Scotlandpublished at 73 mins

    Georginio Wijnaldum

    Game over, you suspect.

It's a lovely flighted cross from Cody Gakpo, and Wijnaldum slips in between Jack Hendry and John Souttar to head beyond Angus Gunn.

The Dutch have been clinical. Scotland haven't. That's the difference.

John McGinn shakes his head after curling a left-footed shot wide. He used that backside brilliantly to get the space.

It came from a big switch of play out to Nathan Patterson.

  14. Postpublished at 70 mins

    Netherlands 1-0 Scotland

Netherlands get as free kick on the edge of the box and the tension rises, only for Memphis Depay to put it straight into the wall.

Lawrence Shankland's performance shows you that he should be in contention to be starting games.

  16. Time for changespublished at 21:14 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    Netherlands 1-0 Scotland

Lawrence Shankland makes way for Che Adams. It's been a really good shift from the Hearts captain, but how he would love that chance again.

Billy Gilmour is also off for Lewis Ferguson, and John Souttar replaces Kieran Tierney.

  17. 'Chance of dreams'published at 21:08 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    Netherlands 1-0 Scotland

    James McFadden
    Former Scotland forward on Sportsound

I think everybody thought it was going to hit the back of the net. It was the chance Shankland has been waiting for.

If there's anyone you want it to fall to it's Lawrence Shankland.

That's the chance of dreams to score for Scotland.

  18. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 61 mins

    Netherlands 1-0 Scotland

    Got to score!

Lawrence Shankland robs Max Wieffer and is clean through on goal but side-foots it off the bar.

He's been scoring those all season. What a chance.

  19. Postpublished at 58 mins

    Netherlands 1-0 Scotland

Andy Robertson initially gets away from Nathan Ake and again there's a little moment where the Scotland captain has the chance to shoot on his left foot.

But he chooses to try to chop back inside and Ake recovers.

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 55 mins

    Netherlands 1-0 Scotland

Angus Gunn is called in to action as Cody Gakpo hits a rasping shot which was dipping under the crossbar.

    It's end-to-end stuff here. Frantic.
