The New Saints v Airdrieonians (16:15)

There have been a handful of former SPFL names that have stood out in The New Saints’ squads as they have fought their way to the final.

Scottish forward Declan McManus, who played for several Scottish league clubs, has 77 goals and 22 assists in 96 appearances for the Welsh champions.

Former Ayr United loanee Brad Young has found the net on 27 occasions in 30 appearances since joining TNS in the summer – scoring three crucial goals in the SPFL Trust Trophy, also.

Young scored against both Hibernian B and East Fife, before netting the only goal of the game to dump Falkirk out of the competition at their own ground in the semi-final.

Can the former Ayr man net once again at Falkirk Stadium to seal yet more silverware for TNS?

  2. A cross-border quadruple?published at 16:05 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March

The New Saints v Airdrieonians (16:15)

It’s not often a football club wins four trophies outside the country they are located within in just one season. But The New Saints may do just that.

Situated in Shropshire – just inside the English border to Wales – TNS are targeting their third piece of silverware this season, with the Nathaniel MG Cup and Cymru Premier already wrapped up.

TNS manager Craig Harrison, who was assistant manager for Connah’s Quay Nomads throughout their Challenge Cup final run five years ago, has stated that The Saints aim to go the entire domestic season unbeaten.

With 16 league titles, nine Welsh Cups and 10 League Cups to their name, grabbing silverware in another country seems the natural next step for The Saints.

  5. Three Airdrie changes; McCabe startspublished at 15:58 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March

The New Saints v Airdrieonians (16:15)

Airdrieonians player-manager Rhys McCabe opts to make three changes from last Saturday’s 5-2 victory over Arbroath.

McCabe starts himself, as he has for all four SPFL Trust Trophy ties thus far.

The two further changes include the re-introduction of full-back Cammy Ballantyne and midfielder Gavin Gallagher to the starting XI.

Cup-tied pair Kanayo Megwa and Arron Lyall are ineligible and miss out, while Dean McMaster drops to the bench.

The New Saints v Airdrieonians (16:15)

TNS manager Craig Harrison makes just one change to his side following last weekend’s narrow win over Newtown.

Ex-Hamilton midfielder Danny Redmond replaces attacker Adrian Cieslewicz, allowing Jordan Williams and Rory Holden to support top goalscorer Brad Young up top.

As expected, English defender Ryan Astles is the only enforced absence.

Both finalists are quite fond of this ground.

TNS secured their spot in this very final with a win over Falkirk just last month.

Airdrieonians’s play-off charge to the Scottish Championship included a victory here last May.
