Leam Richardson appeared to be urging his players to head to the dressing room swiftly after the half-time whistle blew, but what do you make of this game?

This is how the bottom of the Championship looks at half-time in this game.

Plymouth are headed four points clear of the drop zone if they can see out victory at Rotherham.

On the other hand, Rotherham's relegation will be mathematically confirmed tonight unless they can find a response when we return.

Another poor goal to concede. You defend like that, you end up bottom of the league - and that's where we are.

There were 202 minutes between Bali Mumba's opener and Plymouth's last goal, which Morgan Whittaker scored in their 2-1 defeat at Norwich City on 29 March.

Are Argyle going to win for the first time in seven matches tonight? Give us a thumbs up if they will or a thumbs down if Rotherham are coming back in this one.

The first half has been very, very satisfactory indeed from Argyle. They are deservedly in front and it could have been by more.

We have had quite a lot of really good bits of play by Argyle tonight, it was a great goal by Bali Mumba from a cross by Morgan Whittaker, and Callum Wright has also played very well, while Michael Cooper in goal has had nothing to do.

Three points tonight for Argyle might put a bit more doubt into the minds of those teams towards the bottom of the table who are playing tomorrow.

The half ends with a Rotherham corner which comes to nothing because a foul is spotted amid a crowded penalty area.

That sums up their attacking threat, although the relegation certainties have lacked sharpness and quality rather than endeavour.

Plymouth deservedly lead through Bali Mumba's fine finish. It's been scrappy, but Argyle won't care in the slightest if they can earn a result ensuring they remain out of the bottom three after Saturday's action.

  8. CLOSE!published at 45+2 mins

    Rotherham 0-1 Plymouth

Another excellent inswinging cross from Morgan Whittaker from the right finds Callum Wright at the far post, evading Hakeem Odoffin with Rotherham's defence dozing again.

Wright responds by applying a header which is not powerful enough to truly test Viktor Johansson. The goalkeeper stops the attempt with an outstretched arm and gathers.

Last chance of the half? That was a good one.

Sam Clucas has a chance to whip in a cross from midway inside the Plymouth half on the left, locating Cameron Humphreys inside the box, who mistimes his jump and allows Plymouth to clear.

Cohen Bramall then has a chance to launch a long throw inside Argyle's box. Plymouth partially clear, then Ashley Phillips hammers a clearance towards the opposition penalty area.

Plymouth have had nine of the 13 attempts and three of the four on target.

Ollie Rathbone stops Morgan Whittaker from causing more trouble with a perfectly-timed tackle by a corner flag.

Sam Nombe does well to hold the ball up, surging forward and feeding Hakeem Odoffin on the right.

Rotherham work the ball back into their own half, then start another attack which culminates in Michael Cooper making a routine catch from a cross.

When Rotherham have fallen behind this season they have not been able to turn it around at all, and that is what their players might be thinking at the moment.

Sorry to remind you, Millers fans, but that also means the hosts' relegation will be mathematically confirmed tonight unless they turn this around.

Rotherham have been resigned to going down for a cruelly long period of time, but they'd surely like to postpone the inevitable for as long as possible.

A really well-worked goal and deserved as well. That has certainly raised the noise levels in here after it had gone fairly quiet. Mumba knocked the ball past a defender and just thumped it from fairly close range. He couldn't miss really.

GOAL: Rotherham 0-1 Plymouthpublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 5 April 2024

    Bali Mumba (32 mins)

Could that be a massive goal in Plymouth's bid to stay up?

Bali Mumba drops behind Seb Revan to reach a clipped crossfield pass from Morgan Whittaker, who cut inside with intent from the right.

Mumba takes a terrific first touch to set himself up and smash his finish beyond Millers keeper Viktor Johansson from a tight angle.

Argyle move four points above the drop zone, as it stands.

Plymouth play passes around inside their own and Rotherham's half.

Hakeem Odoffin snuffs out an attempted attack down the left, conceding a throw-in. Ryan Hardie's cross from the same side comes to nothing.

One shot on target apiece, and neither of them of note. It's all gone a little quiet on the pitch.

Plymouth owner Simon Hallett is here, and the man who made the painful decision to remove Ian Foster on Monday might not have seen much to ease any concerns he has over the trajectory his team are taking.
