GOAL - England 1-0 Swedenpublished at 20:25 British Summer Time 5 April

    Alessia Russo (25 mins)

    Breakthrough!

Well England have had to be patient with Sweden posing threat on the counter but the ball comes to Lauren James on the right-hand side. It's textbook stuff from the Chelsea winger as she drives forward, beats her defender and finds Alessia Russo in the area.

No mistake from the forward to get England's Euro 2025 qualifying campaign off the mark.

    England 0-0 Sweden

England win their first corner of the match after Lauren Hemp drives to the bye-line but Alex Greenwood's delivery is cleared.

The Lionesses retain possession, though, and Naimh Charles makes a good run but the chance is snuffed out.

    England 0-0 Sweden

England enjoy a bit of possession for the first time in the game but Keira Walsh gives it away cheaply in the middle of the park.

Sweden break at pace and Fridolina Rolfo goes for the low drive from the left-hand side into the bottom far corner but it's inches wide of the post.

When Sweden get the ball their first thought is to go and stretch England's back-line.

Stina Blackstenius is stretching the back-line, but Lotte Wubben-Moy is not giving Blackstenius any time.

But, one ball over the top and Blackstenius will be on to it - she is deceivingly quick.

It's been a very slow start from England. The atmosphere has dipped a little because of it. There wasn't much reaction to that wasted Lauren Hemp cross.

    England 0-0 Sweden

Not a scintillating opening 15 minutes for England but they do have players on the pitch who can create chances.

So far, they haven't seen enough of the ball to be able to do so.

Sweden are on the front-foot, they are going at England and are pressing them.

It's now how England deal with this and when they have the ball how they look after it.

England win the ball back in their own half and Keira Walsh looks to drive forward. She finds Alessia Russo who loops over for Lauren Hemp but the Lionesses can't create anything of note.

There is quite a bit of blood actually. They are having to treat it and dress it. The referee is gesturing for them to do it off the pitch. She will need to change her socks. The Swedish players were annoyed she wasn't treated off the pitch in the first place.

Sweden are getting a bit agitated about how long the treatment is taking and had a word with the referee, who then said the medical team and Alessia Russo needed to leave the field to continue the treatment.

We'll play on while she gets sorted.

Alessia Russo is clearly in some pain on the pitch. Alex Greenwood and Lucy Bronze came over to see how she was.

Bronze then gestured to the bench it was her shin. Lauren James has gone to collect a spare pair of socks because there might be some blood.

Russo did take a big whack. The medical team are with her now.

With train strikes and horrendous Friday evening traffic there are lots of fans still arriving at Wembley as the game kicks off.

But as they walk up to the famous arches, a familiar voice in Jill Scott greets them with ticketing and other words of advice on the PA system.

And it's great to see big adverts for other important women's football matches that are coming up too, including Chelsea in the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona and Spurs in the FA Cup.

But for now, minds are all on England as their Euro 2025 qualifying campaign starts.
