While it's not the fastest derby goal over the years, it is the quickest Premiership goal this season.

Ibrox is still reeling from that early goal.

Remember, there are no away fans inside the stadium.

Remarkably, that's not the quickest Old Firm goal...

Celtic's Chris Sutton netted 19 seconds into a 3-2 Rangers win in 2002.

It's a complete freak. Tavernier should have reacted earlier, but he never. A fantastic start for Celtic.

  5. 'Maeda is really quick'published at 12:05 British Summer Time 7 April

    Rangers 0-1 Celtic

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

Quite incredible. Tavernier went to sleep a little bit, he didn't realise that Maeda - who is really quick - was getting in to close him down.

He played it off him and the goalkeeper was out of position. It's hesitation from Tavernier, and he should have been onto it quicker. He has to do better.

  6. 'Too casual from Tavernier'published at 12:04 British Summer Time 7 April

This is the perfect start for Celtic.

James Tavernier just dallies and Daizen Maeda is onto him.

It's too casual from Tavernier and Celtic are in front!

    Wow!

Twenty one seconds on the clock and the visitors are ahead...

Rangers skipper James Tavernier is caught napping from a long ball over the top and his attempted clearance cannons off the chasing Daizen Maeda and pings into the far corner of the net like a perfectly aimed shot.

    Here we go.

It's loud at Ibrox. Very loud.

  9. 'We must entertain' - Clementpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 7 April

    Rangers v Celtic (12:00)

Rangers manager Philippe Clement tells Sportsound that his side aim to entertain their "amazing" supporters.

"It's an exciting game and you look forward to that," he said. "You always prepare the game and look at everything from the past. In the last five months, my team have made huge developments and they are much stronger than they were before - as you can see in the data and the points we have took.

"It's a new challenge, like it was in the first Old Firm and like it was against Benfica or Betis or Sparta Prague. These kind of games with a higher level than normally in the league. It's interesting to see that.

"It's all about performance in football. If you perform day-by-day, week-by-week then the results come. These games are decided on details and important moments, and you need to grab them. We need to entertain our fans who have been amazing the last few months supporting the team."

On the decision to start Dujon Sterling ahead of Borna Barisic at left-back and omit Abdallah Sima from the starting line-up, Clement explained: "Dujon is doing well. Ridvan [Yilmaz] is out still injured and Borna was sick this week so he is not at full power. We thought it was the best idea to start with Dujon in such an intense game. It's not something new for him . We know his qualities and we can count on him.

"Sima is not ready for 45 minutes so he can't start the game."

  10. 'A win would put us in the right direction'published at 11:58 British Summer Time 7 April

    Rangers v Celtic (12:00)

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers tells Sportsound: "We've watched his (Callum McGregor) progress, and he'll play some part in the game, but you have to manage him and his physicality. It's just great to have him available in the squad.

"Callum would play if he was 80 or 85% but he's not at that level. Tomo [Iwata] has done very well in his place, and it's birthday today so hopefully he'll have a good birthday.

"His strength is different to Callum's. We're a team that is very progressive with the ball and Callum gives you great quality and allows you to get through the lines quickly. Tomo is more a defensive midfield player who does the dirty bits well. Days like today, you need that.

[On Cameron Carter-Vickers] "He's very influential on the team. He gives calmness and balance to the team. Whenever he hasn't played, the opposition have gotten in behind more than often than we'd like.

"Nothing is won today. It would put us in the right direction, if we get the win. I'm just looking forward to seeing us play and if we play to our best, we've got a great chance."

  11. 'No doubt McGregor will come on'published at 11:57 British Summer Time 7 April

    Rangers v Celtic (12:00)

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

That's the big talking point. If Brendan Rodgers played Callum McGregor, it was a big risk whether he would get through the game. He will make an impact somewhere in the game, there's no doubt he'll come on.

If Reo Hatate doesn't last the 90 minutes, then they have someone else who can come in and play in that position with real quality.

If Hatate doesn't work after 10 minutes, it could be a fatal mistake.

  12. 'I couldn't get out there quick enough'published at 11:53 British Summer Time 7 April

    Rangers v Celtic (12:00)

    Stuart McCall
Former Rangers midfielder on BBC Sportsound

People ask me 'are you excited?' Not really, you're more nervous now because you have no impact.

As a player, it was excitement. I couldn't get out there quick enough. People asked me if four was too many Old Firm games a season. I could have played 10.

Hopefully, the wind doesn't pick up. You can do cold and rain, but if the wind starts swirling that's when it gets difficult - certainly for defenders.

  13. Rodgers out to continue Celtic dominancepublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 7 April

Rangers fans, look away now. The stats around this fixture in recent years do not make for good reading for the blue side of Glasgow.

Yes, they won here last season under Michael Beale - but the title had already been decided. That's the only one of the last nine derbies Rangers have won.

In terms of league derbies, the stats are the same: one win in nine for Rangers.

Will the hosts feel they're 'due' a win? We'll soon find out.

Celtic have won three of their past five visits to Ibrox in all competitions (D1 L1).

Rangers have not lost their first three derbies of a league campaign since 2003-04 under Alex McLeish.

Each team has four wins and a defeat from their last five league outings but the hosts have picked up seven more points than their Glasgow rivals in 2024 (30 to 23).

    Rangers v Celtic (12:00)

    Kheredine Idessane
    BBC Scotland at Ibrox

He's been piling up the points since arriving last October - the one box that's still to be ticked for Philippe Clement is a win over Celtic.

He's beaten everyone else in the league and had some statement wins in Europe, Now he wants the scalp of his big city rivals.

Rangers fans will feel it's long overdue. They haven't seen their side beat Celtic while the title was in the balance since a 1-0 win here when Steven Gerard was in charge in August 2021. It was Ange Postecoglou's first derby and it was actually Gary McAllister in the dugout, with Gerard observing Covid isolation protocols.
