Everton get us under way in a game both sides will be delighted to say isn't very important anymore.

  2. Sutton's predictionpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 27 April

    Everton v Brentford (17:30 BST)

    SuttonImage source, .

I always felt Everton's season depended a lot on Dominic Calvert-Lewin but it felt like he was in the wilderness for months before he put in such a brilliant performance against Liverpool on Wednesday.

He was such a handful all game and showed what a good a player he is. I was left thinking where have you been for so long?

You have to wonder how much Everton have got left in the tank after their efforts to win the Merseyside derby but a lot of the pressure is off them now.

It is the same for Brentford after their run of results - both of these teams are almost safe because Luton would need a miracle to catch them.

I am not sure what is going on with Bees striker Ivan Toney, because he was on the bench for a couple of games before missing the win over Luton with a hip injury, but they don't seem to need him at the moment.

This is a hard one to call because a win would effectively cement survival for whoever gets it, but a draw is also a decent result for both teams - and that might mean this is quite a cagey affair.

    Sutton's prediction:1-1

  3. 'Complete lack of leadership'published at 17:28 British Summer Time 27 April

    FT: Newcastle 5-1 Sheff Utd

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder, speaking to MOTD: "We have not been good enough. The league has been too powerful for us right the way through the season.

"There's plenty of games where we have been put to bed early but today we should have been 3-0 up at half-time. I'm scratching my head that it was 1-1. Newcastle up their game and get a head of steam. Then our old mistakes start to fall in and goals go from two to three to four to five pretty quickly.

"There's a reason why that happens. It's an incredibly young side and there is a complete lack of leadership out there. I thought at times I was going to have a heart attack in terms of trying to get the messages on."

  4. 'To give it away is so unnecessary'published at 17:27 British Summer Time 27 April

    FT: Man Utd 1-1 Burnley

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag speaking to Sky Sports: "Strong start to the game. Loads of chances then we lost in control in second part of first half. Burnley came back in the game and had some chances. Second half was all ours and we are in a winning position and we give the game away at the end.

"Very frustrated, shouldn't happen. You put yourself in difficult positions. Over many phases of the game we did very good so at the end we have to take the three points and the clean sheet. We gave it away again at the end.

"We put ourselves in a winning position by playing some good football - creating loads of chances and then to give it away in the end in the final minutes it's so unnecessary."

Is that down to bad luck or mentality? "Both - bad luck and we are not lucky with the refereeing in recent weeks. We've conceded so many penalties, this one is justified but other ones. If you make [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka in the final a penalty then what is this [Alejandro Garnacho penalty claim]. Where is the consistency?

"We have to look in the mirror. We made a mistake, but you take responsibility and they should understand what it means for a team and for a manager."

  5. 'We've earned the right to believe and hope'published at 17:25 British Summer Time 27 April

    FT: Man Utd 1-1 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany, talking to BBC Match of the Day, about his side having enough chances to win the game: "That is football. We are where we are for a reason. If we are clinical in all moments we'd be well clear of the relegation zone. Our attitude was impeccable and the sacrifice for the team was impeccable too. Old Trafford is always a tough place to go to, we'll take the positives and hopefully keep the momentum ahead of two games at Turf Moor."

On Zeki Amdouni's perfect penalty record: "Don't jinx it! I won't be saying anything else about that. He is a goalscorer. Hidden in the inexperience of our squad are some really, really good talents. It's not a coincidence he scored that goal. He's an outstanding talent."

On Dara O'Shea: "There are too many to pick out. For us it is not just about his defending and on the ball, it is about his leadership. We don't have a lot of experience but he's stood up and that has been important for us."

On the rest of their season and fight for survival: "If I was die tomorrow you could put 'we keep going' on my headstone. There is tremendous consistency in the club and the approach to each game, even in tough times. We've earned the right to believe and hope."

  6. 'Scoreline doesn't tell full story'published at 17:24 British Summer Time 27 April

    FT: Wolves 2-1 Luton

    Wolves

Wolves manager Gary O'Neil, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was a good performance, the scoreline probably doesn't tell the full story. We were very comfortable for long periods and we probably should have put it to bed.

"We know Luton are a threat from corsses and set-plays and we had to suffer a nervous few minutes at the end.

"It's amazing the difference having a couple of attackers makes to us. It is the first time since 30 December that we have been able to name Hwang [Hee-chan] and [Matheus] Cunha in the same team. We've had a tough spell without them, although they aren't fully fit at this moment they are big for the group.

"We've got a talented group but it's difficult to always be a threat without attackers. We can have the ball, think back to West Ham when we dominated possession, but we can't always make it count without the right attackers.

"There are so many positives from this season. We've improved on the points tally of last year, stabilised the club financially and I think it's 13 academy players involved in matchday squads."

On accusations that Wolves have been 'on the beach': "They have been motivated in every game. We went to Nottingham forest with not many players available and we scrapped. We did that against Burnley too.

"We had an off-night on Wednesday, which we don't like but it happens, and we showed what we can do by bouncing back today."

  7. 'We don't give up - that's not an option'published at 17:21 British Summer Time 27 April

    FT: Man Utd 1-1 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany speaking to Sky Sports: "Intense game, good, well-fought battle. I thought either side were going for the win. We had some big chances.

"We are where we are in the league for a reason so not everything can be perfect but the mentality was perfect - the togetherness, the sacrifice for each other. Football is like this. For us it's good to hold onto the momentum and look to the next game."

On giving the ball away: "It all balances off if you're more clinical in front of goal. It's the full picture and the full picture is that on balance we did really well. We continue.

"We don't give up - that's not an option. We continue, we've had our fair share of challenges this season but we're here. If you represent Burnley that's not in the vocab for us."

On relegation battle: "I don't assess it - I have three games, two at Turf Moor. With our fans, with the momentum we have we have to believe. We don't need much more than just one opportunity. If we have one chance to give it a go we will do that."

  8. 'We definitely feel the injustice'published at 17:18 British Summer Time 27 April

    Everton v Brentford (17:30 BST)

    DoucoureImage source, Getty Images

Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure says the injustice of the point deductions this season has fuelled the team to win games and avoid relegation.

The Toffees have been docked a total of eight points for breaches of the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules this season, but have appealed against a two-point deduction for the three-year period to 2022-23.

"We definitely feel the injustice from the Premier League to us," Doucoure told BBC Radio Merseyside. "But we said we just need to hit the ground running and win games.

"This sort of thing hurts but it is out of our control. We can only control what happens on the pitch. It makes the team connected.

"We just said 'guys it is a joke' and we have to play well and win games and move on.

"This season we have been hit by points deductions but last season was completely different in terms of the football."

  9. Big result for Everton before kick-offpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 27 April

    Everton v Brentford (17:30 BST)

    Shamoon Hafez
BBC Sport football news reporter at Goodison Park

Luton losing at Wolves is a significant result for Everton.

Despite being docked eight points for breaching the Premier League's financial results, one point from their last four games will effectively grant top-flight survival for another year.

Luton's goal difference is -20 on Everton's and the two sides meet in the next game on Friday evening.

Sheffield United's Jack Robinson is being interviewed by Premier League Productions about his team's relegation to the Championship.

He says Blades fans deserve better and that the club will re-group in the summer.

  11. Evertonians have 'risen' to the occasionpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 27 April

    Everton v Brentford (17:30 BST)

    Shamoon Hafez
BBC Sport football news reporter at Goodison Park

There's little sympathy for Liverpool's plight around these parts, with the Reds' title hopes in Jurgen Klopp's farewell taking another huge blow following today's draw at West Ham, just three days after THAT loss against Merseyside rivals Everton.

The Toffees have had another sticky season but back-to-back home wins with clean sheets has dragged them clear of the bottom three and avoiding defeat against Brentford today will all-but secure their top-flight status for another season.

It has been the perfect reaction to the 6-0 hammering at Chelsea not so long ago, with Sean Dyche admitting on Wednesday that he is now flavour of the month, with it not being the case after the result at Stamford Bridge.

"After our loss at Chelsea two weeks ago, I asked our Toffees to rise and get behind us and, my word, have you done that. Your support for the Nottingham Forest game was incredible, whilst the noise and support for the derby was off the scale and the reaction to the team's performance was amazing. We all cannot thank you enough."

  12. 'Important to stay in race for Europe'published at 17:10 British Summer Time 27 April

    FT: Newcastle 5-1 Sheff Utd

    Newcastle United

Newcastle forward Alexander Isak, speaking to Premier League Productions: "I'm very happy. It was important for us to stay in the race for Europe. We got off to quite a bad start and needed one goal against us to wake up. The reaction was very good. The manager gave us a wake-up call at half-time.

"Many of my penalties have been here at home. I tried to stay calm and focus on the moment. I was thinking I want a hat-trick. I haven't had one.

"Europe is still alive and we have to focus on ourselves and we'll see how it goes."

  13. NOT a relegation fixture anymorepublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 27 April

    Everton v Brentford (17:30 BST)

    PL bottom sixImage source, .

A month ago this would have been a proper relegation scrap - Everton were three points above the drop zone, with Brentford only a point above the Toffees.

Maybe around the time this was picked as a TV game.

But they are eight and 10 points above Luton respectively after the 15:00 BST games.

Everton have won three of their last four Premier League matches, following a club record 13-game winless run.

Brentford have won their last two Premier League games, as many as they had in their previous 18.

How low can Man Utd go? Two bottom teams in the PL and it was a struggle. SJR must be worried.

    Sam, Bury

Good grief Man Utd are bad. I looked at their last few fixtures a couple of weeks ago and thought they'd only win maybe two or three more matches. This was one of them. Without Bruno they'd be struggling to avoid relegation.

    James, Bolton

  15. 'We will play until the end'published at 17:06 British Summer Time 27 April

    FT: Man Utd 1-1 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley goal scorer Zeki Amdouni speaking to Premier League Productions: "Result is very important for us, we knew that coming to Old Trafford would be difficult but at the end I think we deserved this point.

"We could've got more from the game but Man Utd also had a lot of chances. Our keeper saved some great chances but some opportunities we can do better.

"Never easy to take a penalty in the last five minutes at 1-0 down. But I took my breath and took it."

On relegation: "We have three games, I haven't seen the other results but we will play until the last game and we will play until the end."

    Final Score at Craven Cottage

A Schlupp screamer to give Palace a point they deserved.

They’ve made clear strides under Oliver Glasner in recent weeks, but I think Adam Wharton deserves a mention today. Twenty years old and only a few months into his Premier League career, but he’s quickly developing into a terrific midfielder.

  17. Postpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 27 April

    FT: Newcastle 5-1 Sheff Utd

    Newcastle United

While Sheffield United can start planning for life in the Championship next season, Newcastle are well placed in the chase to finish sixth and secure a place in Europe.

Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Burnley coupled with this result means the Magpies are just one point behind the sixth-placed Red Devils with four games to go.

While Manchester United are spluttering towards the finishing line, Newcastle have taken 13 points from their past six games.
