F1 journalist Dan Knutson in Jerez: "More news on Red Bull. Kvyat has been doing some runs without a front wing, as we know, after damaging it in a 'small off' this morning. However, this could be a problem.

"The team are flying out a new front wing but there is no guarantee it will make it to Spain in time for the team to do any more proper running today, so everyone at Red Bull is having to cross their fingers."

McLaren fans, I bring you news. The positive thing is that Jenson Button has been out again. He even set a timed lap. However, it was 33 seconds off the pace, and he remains in single figures in terms of laps for the day.

For those asking, Lewis Hamilton has chosen to continue running 44 - his favourite number - on his car, rather than take the number one, which is on offer to the world champion.

When asked about it at the end of last season, Hamilton said: "Number one is a great thing but I will always know I'm number one."

Lewis Hamilton is back out on track. The world champion is currently second fastest and has completed more laps than anybody else with 42 on the board. At the other end of the spectrum, McLaren's Jenson Button has managed just two.

Lotus' Pastor Maldonado is on the board, but his best effort is an uninspiring 1:35.613, 14.6 seconds off the pace. It's early days, mind.

Hurrah, the silence is broken by the Sauber of Felipe Nasr, who peels out of the garage and cruises down the pit lane. The Brazilian is soon followed by Pastor Maldonado in the Lotus.

RiskyApex:, external McLaren with the signing of Alonso and of course the Honda partnership.

Rob Stearn:, external Ferrari getting Vettel is decisive to their improvement, he's a way better driver at testing and helping improve the car than Alonso.

Shahab:, external It seems all the changes at Maranello are good for Scuderia Ferrari, and Vettel seems very hungry after his disastrous 2014 at Red Bull.

"Red Bull have sent Daniil Kvyat out a few times without a front wing this morning but this is no trick aero tweak from Adrian Newey. It's simply that the front wing was broken in what the team describe as 'a small off' and Kvyat then completed a series of install laps for which the wing is not required."

Have McLaren pulled off a masterstroke signing Fernando Alonso? Will Williams turn podiums into wins this year after retaining both Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa?

Will Toro Rosso's decision to hire rookies Max Verstappen, 17, and Carlos Sainz Jr, 20, with a combined age of 37, pay off?

"Will the McLaren-Honda behave better for Jenson Button today than it did for Fernando Alonso on Sunday? Racing director Eric Boullier hopes so. 'We are struggling with a few electrical issues,' the Frenchman said. 'They are quite difficult to fix. They are fixable and they could be fixed for tomorrow. But then we may end up with another issue somewhere. We will get on top of this. I don't know when but hopefully as soon as possible.'

"He added: 'There is no big issue on the car. The car looks altogether and drivable like we want. It is just a matter of time to fix little glitches.' Their target for Monday, Boullier said, was to 'run at least 60 laps maybe, that would be nice'."
