Benedict Salido: This is turning out to be a straightforward track where the more powerful car wins. Overtaking only on straights.

Prashant Nimat: Ordinary start to the race. Someone please make it interesting. Sebastian are you listening?

    Lap 7/51

Let's take a moment to reflect.

Rosberg has an eight-second lead on Sebastian Vettel.

Daniel Ricciardo, in P3, has just swung into the pits - rapid tyre change from the Red Bull crew.

But that puts Raikkonen up into P3, then Perez and Massa.

Lewis Hamilton is now 14 seconds behind team-mate Nico Rosberg. Rosberg was convinced that if it was a clean race then Hamilton could still challenge but that is a huge gap to make up on someone in the same car.

Who said you couldn't overtake on this track (other than the long straight)?

    It's joyous to watch.

Max Verstappen has Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas swarming over him like ants have smelt honey on his backside.

It's Bottas who goes past first and then Hamilton follows suit,

    Bottas into P7, Hamilton P8.

    Lap 3/51

Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Gutierrez both dropped three places each, but it was a very smooth start to the European GP.

Valtteri Bottas has a nibble at Daniil Kvyat down the big straight, but Kvyat positions himself well.

The Williams goes for it again and nails it - he leaps into P8.

Huge relief for Mercedes after both of their drivers made bad starts in Montreal seven days ago. But they got away well here. It was a perfect get away for Rosberg and Hamilton kept his nose clean to remain 10th.

Bishop Yinkus: Another opportunity for Lewis to further cement his name as hard racer by climbing up from P10. Main straight opportunities.

Barend: So the racing gods have smiled on Daniel Ricciardo - just hope the Red Bull team have their act together today.

Esteban Gutierrez may have taken some contact and has an issue with a wheel, so he's dropped a few places to 17th.

But a dream start for Nico Rosberg - no chaos. No drama. He has a one-second lead.

Nico Rosberg is safely into Turn One. The front three in fact are unscathed.

    Lewis Hamilton remains in 10th.

Baku is the second-longest lap on the calendar - so it's a bit of a wait for them to get into position.

Chaos is expected going into Turn One... Kevin Magnussen misses it as he starts from the pits. Maybe for the best.
