Another day, another sweary Sebastian Vettel: "OK this is a BEEP spot. I am wasting my time. What do you want me to drop into?"

"You can do a flap adjust if you need and have a better slot behind?"

Nico Rosberg pits, bins the super-softs and returns to the track with softs on his Mercedes. He did 20 laps on those super-softs.

Elton Lam: Naughty Max. Taking track limits to the edge with 14 offs... Kerb it Verstappen!

I have not got all the laps, but from the laps that I have got, Nico Rosberg appears to still have an advantage over Lewis Hamilton over race pace. He is about two to three tenths quicker on average. What is also interesting is that the Red Bulls have been considerably faster than the Ferraris so far.

Max Verstappen was apparently the driver who ran wide at Turn One on 14 occasions during first practice. Talk about exploring the limits.

  6. Different strategy for Ferrari?published at 14:03 British Summer Time 29 July 2016

Sebastian Vettel is slightly out of sync with the other cars. He went out late in the session because of a technical issue. Everyone has been out on the super-soft tyre, you then come back in, put a load of fuel in the car and simulate the start of a race. Vettel did his super-soft run, came in and then went out on the soft tyre. It is not totally unusual for Ferrari to do different strategies on a Friday afternoon but I am seeing Vettel do practice starts now, so simulating the start of a race on that tyre, which would suggest a completely different strategy. I wonder if they are investigating the possibility of doing something very different to the rest of the field.

Tom Nolde: How come drivers are getting track limit warnings in practice? Surely they should be allowed to... practice.

Apparently one driver ran wide 14 times alone at Turn One, much to Charlie Whiting's frustration, so I'd imagine he is keen to get the drivers to learn to stay on the track now, as opposed to when we get to the business end of the weekend.

There's a few more drivers edging closer to three strikes territory for exceeding the track limits at Turn One.

Kimi Raikkonen is the latest to go wide there and is warned: "Kimi we only have two more opportunities at Turn One before we will be reported. Be careful."

Kimi is not happy with that minor slap of the wrists. He responds: "My right-hand wheels are on the circuit, why do we get complaints all the time?"

Running wide at Turn One three times will apparently result in a trip to the stewards and Nico Hulkenberg is warned he has no more wiggle room as he goes off there.

"No more running wide at Turn One," he is told.

Fernando Alonso fancies a bit of birthday drama as he power slides through Turn 4. He keeps it together and prevents it from being more dramatic as it could have been.

It costs him the chance of a decent time, though, and he is currently P10, two places and two tenths of a second down on Jenson Button's time.

We're shifting over from the qualifying runs to the long runs as Nico Rosberg returns to the track with a used set of super softs on his Mercedes.

It's a good lap from Sebastian Vettel - enough to move ahead of the Red Bulls but not enough to beat the Mercedes as a 1:16.208 puts him third. Better for Ferrari, but he is two tenths of a second down on Lewis Hamilton and half a second off Nico Rosberg's time.

Sebastian Vettel is out now with super softs on and he's got a pretty clear track as most of his fellow drivers pit.

Let's see what he's got in the bag.

There's possibly a problem for Sebastian Vettel. He is yet to appear with super-softs on his Ferrari.

As it stands, Nico Rosberg leads Lewis Hamilton, with Max Verstappen third quickest, Daniel Ricciardo fourth and Kimi Raikkonen fifth.

Now here comes Lewis Hamilton on the super softs, but it is a very scrappy lap. He locks up at the hairpin and it is no surprise to see that he can't beat Nico Rosberg's time. He ends up four tenths down on his team-mate.
