    Breaking

Yep, the big breaking news this morning is that Nico Rosberg has committed his future to Mercedes, signing a two-year deal that keeps him at the team until 2018.

Judging by the size of smile in the below video of his signing said deal, he is pretty happy about it. The words 'Cheshire Cat' spring to mind.

Lewis Hamilton left Barcelona after the Spanish Grand Prix 43 points adrift of his team-mate Nico Rosberg in the championship and worrying privately whether he would ever close the gap up. Five races later, Hamilton is just one point adrift after four wins and one that really should have been in Baku, but for his inexplicably poor driving in qualifying. “The results I’ve had in the past races have definitely been motivating,” Hamilton said. “To see those results and strength and to see the results through a so-far relatively difficult year is a positive.”

The task he has set himself for the two races in Hungary and Germany separated by a week is to head into the summer break ahead, and where better to achieve that ambition than a track he has won at a record equalling four times, even if Mercedes have not won in Hungary in the hybrid era?

“The last couple of years have been tricky here,” Hamilton said. “We have had good pace - unbelievable pace qualifying last year but the race was a disaster. I want to resurrect the qualifying pace and use that in the race as well.”

    And then there was one.

Four wins in the first four races saw Nico Rosberg go 43 points clear of Lewis Hamilton, but the reigning world champion has responded to bring that gap down to a solitary point.

Fresh from winning his home race, Hamilton arrived in Hungary this week declaring he had the fire inside his belly.

Hamilton, as he put it himself, is looking fresh, powerful and confident as he looks to take control of the championship.

    It's game on.
