A problem for Rio Haryanto.
"There's some tape stuck on my front right tyre," he reports.
"It may clear. It is most likely a tear off," is the response.
"No, it is red tape."
"Let's box now."

Hamilton OK but team say car needs to be "fully stripped and checked"
The Mercedes driver earlier finished quickest in FP1 from Rosberg, who topped FP2

Swift work by the marshals to get that tyre wall ship shape again so quickly after Lewis Hamilton's crash.
I should get them round to retile my bathroom.

The track is green again and we're back under way. Here is the top 10 as it stands:
1) Hamilton 2) Rosberg 3) Ricciardo 4) Verstappen 5) Raikkonen 6) Hulkenberg 7) Sainz 8) Grosjean 9) Perez 10) Massa
Helmet off, cap on, Lewis Hamilton doesn't look too concerned, but he could lose some crucial long runs time.
The session will restart in one minute.
The tyre wall is being repaired as Lewis Hamilton brings his Mercedes back to base. He climbs out of the car as mechanics dive in to take a closer look. Outwardly, there isn't much damage, but suspension could be a concern.

BBC Radio 5 live commentator
"He was, I think, a little bit wide as he turned in. The left side of the car was on the white lines. I think he was asking too much of the car on what is a very slippery part of the circuit."
Lewis Hamilton struck the wall side on, but fortunately with not too much pace. He looks to have lost the rear at Turn 11 and struck the wall side on. He's able to get the car going again and limp the car back to the pits.
Red flag, Lewis Hamilton has spun off and is into the wall!
Andy Kirby: Any news on Rosberg's gearbox after it took a beating last race? #BBCF1, external
While Andrew has been getting all nostalgic, it's a familiar story at the top of the timesheet as Nico Rosberg and then Lewis Hamilton go quickest. Hamilton's pacesetting effort is a 1:21.960, just 0.001s ahead of Rosberg. Absolutely nowt between them.

Terrific old-school atmosphere here on way to comm box. Wafting smell of hamburgers, fans with no t-shirts. Feels like Silverstone in 1983.
"Fernando Alonso for PM?"
"Lewis Hamilton Sports Minister?"
"Nico Rosberg Home Secretary?"
"Kimi for Foreign Secretary?"
The Radio 5 live guys and gals are, in the words of commentator Tom Clarkson, "getting quite excited" about the make-up of our F1 government.

Problems for Sebastian Vettel? He reports that his gearbox is losing sync...
Romain Grosjean is the first name on the timing screen as he pops down a 1:24.524. Kimi Raikkonen follows suit soon after, going quickest with 1:23.218.
We're back to our 'normal' driver line up, by the way. That means, Esteban Gutierrez is back in for Charles Leclerc, with Esteban Ocon stepping aside for Kevin Magnussen.
Second practice is under way! Romain Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen are straight out, soft tyres bolted on.

Honda "found an anomaly" in Alonso's engine in P1. New power-unit fitted for P2. No new components. All components have most recent updates.
The McLarens were slipping and sliding around the circuit on several occasions during first practice, but that didn't stop Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso putting in a couple of decent times. Alonso was seventh quickest with 1:23.935, with Button just behind in eighth.
