Peter O`Sullivan: Max 1st corner incident at Spa just racing but the late change manoeuvre on the straight with Raikkonen was wrong and dangerous

Imade: On Max: It's all gonna be interesting until a crash happens, that's the only way anything is learnt in F1; The hard way

Richard Stephenson: Quite frankly I am staggered by some of the comments regarding MV today. What's the point of a Halo device if F1 allows dirty driving

In fact, only four drivers from the current grid have ever claimed a pole at Monza.

Lewis Hamilton has four, Sebastian Vettel has three, Fernando Alonso has two and Kimi Raikkonen one.

Hamilton has three of the last four poles here, with Vettel popping up in 2013, and last year the Briton started on the front row with Raikkonen.

If Lewis Hamilton can go quickest in qualifying today, he will draw level with Ayrton Senna and Juan Manuel Fangio (pictured) on five Italian GP poles - the most of any drivers.

Williams deputy team principal Claire Williams has been on Sky Sports discussing the rumours around who will replace the retiring Felipe Massa.

As you'd expect, she's keeping shtum on who they are talking to, but notes that it's important to have the matter settled as soon as possible.

Joseph Tolman-Lopez: Remember another young driver who drove aggressively and got demoted? Kvyat can tell you why chilling out a bit is a good idea

Mhaimen Jassim: No he should keep doing what he’s doing he will gain experience with time

Nick Hughes: Of course he should. He has no respect and doesn't care about other drivers whereas Sennna & Schumi did. He plays the victim - always

Jeremiah Kariuki: Verstappen actually impeded another car, Rosberg. Wouldn't that call for a penalty? He is a lucky chap.

  6. Grosjean gets five-place grid penaltypublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 3 September 2016

I can't deal with another weekend of grid penalties. I honestly might lose the plot.

Fortunately this is a mild one for Romain Grosjean, whose Haas had to be hoiked back to the garage on a crane after coming off in final practice.

Matt Hodnett: Max should keep doing what he does some of his moves are illegal some are fine - consistency from FIA

Jamie: No he shouldn't! He is breaking any rules! He is young but a very attack minded driver which F1 has missed

Craig: No way Max should be able to drive as is, fans want excitement, he is not breaking rules.

Max Verstappen may have added Nico Rosberg to his list of detractors after blocking off the German in final practice.

On this occasion, it had nothing to do with the Dutch teenager's aggressive defensive tactics, he was just being a bit dozy.

But, we're continuing to ask the question...

  10. Lewis on his ownpublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 3 September 2016

Lewis Hamilton looked hot to trot this morning.

A casual 0.393secs quicker than his team-mate Nico Rosberg and a second better than the rest of the field.

As is usually the case, he's the man to beat.

Can Lewis Hamilton convert his hot practice lap into a pole?

Can Ferrari get anywhere near Mercedes?

Can Red Bull find a few more seconds?

Can Max Verstappen add another fellow driver to his list of bezzies?

It's Monza qualifying coming at ya!

  13. Next up - qualifyingpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 3 September 2016

An interesting final practice done and dusted.

We had an incident between Rosberg and Verstappen, with Nico getting a tad angry.

Max then had a similar incident with Kevin Magnussen, for a bit of his own medicine.

And, Lewis Hamilton looked red-hot quick.

Qualifying should be fun - I'll be back at 12:00 BST for build-up and we'll get more of your thoughts on Verstappen's driving style.

In the mean time, read Andrew Benson's report of FP3 here.

We haven't seen the optimum super-soft lap from Red Bull in that session. Maybe they are banking on using the softs.

Red Bull are aware that in their battle with Ferrari that Ferrari have the edge over them in terms of horse power so they have to come up with something.

If you like things to be nicely organised, you'll love the top eight of the leader board.

Two Mercedes, followed by two Ferraris, followed by two Williams, followed by two Red Bulls.

The Red Bulls were experimenting with the soft tyres for much of that session, so expect to see more pace from them.

  16. Hamilton hops to the toppublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 3 September 2016

One stonking lap from Lewis Hamilton in that session has set the tone.

Even his team-mate Nico Rosberg was four tenths of a second adrift of the world champion.

If Hamilton can crack out that lap again in qualifying - can he be caught?

  17. chequered flag

Chequered flagpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 3 September 2016

The chequered flag is waved merrily at Monza.

But there's still enough time for Jolyon Palmer to lose it on the final corner and, as his back end wobbles, he slides into the gravel at Parabolica.

Jenson Button complains of traffic and says he's coming home for a cup of tea.

He's been eager to clock off early a lot this weekend.

He has a point though, with half a dozen cars all lingering around the pits.

With three minutes left, the Williams duo of Bottas and Massa are sitting pretty in P5 and P6 respectively.

The Red Bulls occupy the positions behind them but have not given the super-soft tyres as much if a run out.
