Bad news for Carlos Sainz. He's been given a five second time penalty for colliding with Fernando Alonso.

He'll be a bit annoyed that decision didn't come a little earlier when he pitted.

  2. Lap 13/71published at 19:24 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

Marcus Ericsson, Jolyon Palmer, Carlos Sainz and Romain Grosjean all pit to take on mediums.

  3. Lap 12/71published at 19:23 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

Sebastian Vettel does not like being in the middle of a Williams sandwich. "He is stupid, he is slowing himself down by fighting so hard," says Vettel of Felipe Massa.

How very dare Massa, trying to keep his position.

Chris Miller: Embarrassing for the sport of Formula One that Hamilton's allowed to shortcut the first two corners without punishment.

Matteo Panadero: Right, so much for all the excitement. Now it's just business as usual to the podium. Ricciardo to drink from a sombrero's my guess.

Hamilton's punishment has been given him to in the form of a massive flat spot, plus no driver chooses to bounce across the grass like that, you can incur all kinds of damage.

Actually he spent quite a long time off track, the fact he regained it was down to his ability to control the car. He didn't gain a place from that and the stewards therefore have no reason to look at it.

  7. Lap 11/71published at 19:22 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

Max Verstappen pits - the mechanics are ready for him this time and the communication breakdown in the United States - and he ditches the super-softs for mediums.

If it finishes like this, then Nico Rosberg's lead will be cut to 19 points with two races remaining.

  9. Lap 10/71published at 19:21 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

Daniel Ricciardo is not messing about. He pulls off a similar move on Kevin Magnussen to the one he did on Jenson Button and he is into 12th place.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen is losing ground on Nico Rosberg. The gap is 2.6 seconds now. Looks like those super-softs the Red Bull has on are approaching the end of their life.

Esteban Gutierrez is under investigation for causing a collision because it was his shunt on Marcus Ericsson that led to the Sauber hitting Pascal Wehrlein's Manor.

Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz are also under investigation for causing a collision.

    Busy times for the stewards.

David Nicholson-Hirst: Verstappen might do Hamilton a favour, overtaking is tight, could be a collision with his aggressive driving

Will Kavanagh: How is Hamilton not penalised? He went off the track completely. What a fool he is. The title is still Nico's.

Alexandra Hallam: I love the vibe at this race!

  12. Lap 8/71published at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

Daniel Ricciardo dives down the inside of Jenson Button at Turn One and is into 13th. He's encouraged to make a swift move on his next victim.

"Next up is Kevin Magnussen. He's all alone," Ricciardo is told by his race engineer.

Max Verstappen has got a bit of a dilemma. He is desperate to get past Nico Rosberg and his super-soft tyres are going to only be at their best for the next couple of laps, he has got to really look after those.

If he can be a little bit closer to Rosberg coming out of turn 17 then he stands a great chance.

No further action to be taken after the incident involving Nico Rosberg and Max Verstappen at the first corner on lap one. If Verstappen wants P2, he's going to have to fight Rosberg for it. There's nine tenths of a second between them at the moment.

  20. Lap 4/71published at 19:12 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2016

So Lewis Hamilton leads Nico Rosberg with Max Verstappen third. Verstappen's team-mate Daniel Ricciardo is down in 15th, but he pitted for mediums and will be out much longer now than the rest of the field. He's got some racing to do.
