Max Verstappen fastest through the middle sector and he completes the latest lap two tenths quicker than Nico Rosberg. The gap is down to 3.3 seconds.

Sebastian Vettel is currently leading this race but he hasn't stopped yet and is still going strong on his sets of softs. How long can he go for?

The crucial difference is that this is early in the race and Red Bull are still not sure how it is going to pan out at the end of the race. That is why they have got involved here and they didn't in Malaysia.

Ricciardo's efforts to catch Rosberg really were thwarted and he lost a couple of seconds over the course of those laps until the cars in front of him cleared into the pit lane. 

Daniel Ricciardo lets Max Verstappen by and the youngster is up into fourth and charging after Nico Rosberg. The gap between them is 3.9 seconds.

Max Verstappen is behind Daniel Ricciardo. The Dutch teenager is faster than his team-mate, will Ricciardo let him past? Not yet.

Nico Rosberg pits, takes on mediums... and he is out ahead of the Red Bulls. Great stop!

Benedict Salido: Hamilton went off then took a shortcut directly to the circuit and GAINED a lot of gap. Rosberg wad pushed by Max while he was AHEAD.  

Lewis Hamilton, on those nice and fresh mediums, rattles off a new fastest lap - a 1:22.993. He is 1.6 seconds behind third-place Sebastian Vettel and lapping at two tenths quicker than the Ferrari.

I think you need to bring Nico Rosberg in. It looks to me as if the medium tyre is the best out there and you could probably get to the end of the race on that. You would have to look after them, but we are right on the cusp now.

Nico Rosberg stays out. It looks like Mercedes fear he will lose position to Daniel Ricciardo by pitting now. Can he build up the advantage he needs before those tyres are cut up too much?

Perfect execution there from the Mercedes team and Lewis Hamilton will be very happy to have that new set of compound tyres, not least because of that flat spot he's had from the first corner. This will make his life a little bit easier.

The top three have not pitted yet. 

It's Lewis Hamilton who pits. He gets rid of the soft tyes and has some mediums bolted on. He's back out in fourth.

The Mercedes mechanics are getting ready for a stop. Hamilton or Rosberg?

Daniel Ricciardo currently has seven seconds of clean air in front of him and is lapping quickly, he will do everything he can to close that gap down.

Fernando Alonso is currently 10th and suddenly his radio crackles into life. "Push now Fernando."

"I am pushing, I am pushing from lap one but we have traffic. You do your job, I'm doing mine."

Felipe Massa pits, much to Sebastian Vettel's relief, and the Ferrari is into fourth place. 

Out in front, Lewis Hamilton is cruising. He's 5.7 seconds clear of Nico Rosberg.
