    Max Verstappen fastest through the middle sector and he completes the latest lap two tenths quicker than Nico Rosberg. The gap is down to 3.3 seconds.

    Sebastian Vettel is currently leading this race but he hasn't stopped yet and is still going strong on his sets of softs. How long can he go for?

    The crucial difference is that this is early in the race and Red Bull are still not sure how it is going to pan out at the end of the race. That is why they have got involved here and they didn't in Malaysia.

    Ricciardo's efforts to catch Rosberg really were thwarted and he lost a couple of seconds over the course of those laps until the cars in front of him cleared into the pit lane.

    Benedict Salido: Hamilton went off then took a shortcut directly to the circuit and GAINED a lot of gap. Rosberg wad pushed by Max while he was AHEAD.

    Lewis Hamilton, on those nice and fresh mediums, rattles off a new fastest lap - a 1:22.993. He is 1.6 seconds behind third-place Sebastian Vettel and lapping at two tenths quicker than the Ferrari.

    I think you need to bring Nico Rosberg in. It looks to me as if the medium tyre is the best out there and you could probably get to the end of the race on that. You would have to look after them, but we are right on the cusp now.

    Perfect execution there from the Mercedes team and Lewis Hamilton will be very happy to have that new set of compound tyres, not least because of that flat spot he's had from the first corner. This will make his life a little bit easier.
