Fernando Alonso [1:36.293] is two seconds quicker than he was here last year so at the least the speed increases are across the board but he is obviously not as quick as he would like.

Huuugeee slide out of the final corner by Valtteri Bottas and it costs him a bit of time. He goes second quickest, a full second slower than Sebastian Vettel.

It seems Vettel is more comfortable in his Ferrari than Raikkonen at this point.
Good lap from Nico Hulkenberg as he does a 1:35.449 on super-softs, just 0.010s slower than the Red Bull.
We're still waiting for a representative time from Mercedes. Both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas are in the pits with 22 minutes left to go.

That was a good lap by Felipe Massa. I think there is a lot of optimism at Williams that they have the car to be competitive.
More recently, Sebastian Vettel's time is more than two seconds quicker than last year's pole lap of 1:35.402.
Felipe Massa, on super-softs, goes third quickest with 1:35.092 while Max Verstappen is fourth on 1:35.439.

The lap record on this track is held by Michael Schumacher, also in the Ferrari, with the 1:32.238 he did in 2004. It is basically 1.1 seconds quicker than Sebastian Vettel's time, but closing in on that record.
Big lap from Sebastian Vettel! He nails a 1:33.336 - 1.1 seconds quicker than Kimi Raikkonen. Looking on it once again.
And Kimi Raikkonen goes quickest of all with a 1:34.519, 1.1 seconds quicker than Daniel Ricciardo.
"We are suffering with the front still," he reports over the radio after that lap.
Australian GP winner Sebastian Vettel is also on a quick lap now and is faster through the first two sectors than his Ferrari team-mate.
Kimi Raikkonen could be on a qualifying sim now. He's out on a new set of supersofts and is fastest of all through the first sector.
