Niki Lauda speaking on 5 live:  "It could be a great rivalry - it's two World Champions fighting it out so that's always going to be exciting.

"It was very close between Ferrari and Mercedes who was the faster car but Lewis was the difference today."

Jokes and friendly chat in the pre-podium room.

"Really brilliant drive," engineering director Aldo Costa tells Hamilton, who knows he is in for a battle this season.

"This is the year we have to..." he says while doing a hand gesture to indicate 'spot on'.

I think it's going to see-saw between Mercedes and Ferrari for the title this year.

Did I just see Lewis Hamilton do a Bruce Forsyth pose?

Lewis Hamilton leaps out his car and laps up the applause from the fans. He then goes over to Sebastian Vettel, shakes his hand and gives him a hug. He's clearly relishing the battle ahead this season.

Lewis Hamilton has won more races than anyone else in Shanghai. He's about to add a fifth to the collection.

Max Verstappen is getting tetchy as he continues to hold off Daniel Ricciardo...

No I don't think it is ridiculous. He needs to be a lot closer to the car in front to start asking for orders from Charlie Whiting.

To give you some perspective, there are probably about 15-20 car lengths between Max Verstappen and Romain Grosjean...

Blue flags are now being waved but has it come too late for Max Verstappen? He's got a DRS assisted Daniel Ricciardo all over his rear at the moment.

  18. Postpublished at Lap 53/56

Lewis Hamilton leads Sebastian Vettel by 6.5 seconds. The Ferrari is running out of laps and it looks like Hamilton is heading for his first win of the season.

"I am getting understeer because of him!" an increasingly angry Max Verstappen snaps.

"Yeah I know mate but we are being told you need to be in a second of him."

Verstappen is clearly starting to worry about Daniel Ricciardo on his tail. This battle for third is looking the most intriguing in the closing stages.

"Can Grosjean move out of the way please, he just stays in front," Max Verstappen asks, quite politely.
