"It isn't easy to keep up with him," says Lewis Hamilton about Sebastian Vettel.

The Ferrari is 2.5 seconds down the road.

Max Verstappen's maneouvre was an ambitious one, but I think he would have got away with it had Valterri Bottas and Kimi Raikkonen had not come together.

  4. Postpublished at Lap 7/66

"Felipe Massa touched me at Turn 2," says Fernando Alonso. Replays show that to be the case with Massa bumping Alonso off the track.

Meanwhile, it also looks like Valtteri Bottas tagged Kimi Raikkonen just after the lights went out, leading to the Finn's clash with Max Verstappen.

Bottas might want to avoid his compatriot after the race...

Lewis Hamilton is setting about bringing the gap down between himself and race leader Sebastian Vettel. He's just done a 1:26.155 - the fastest lap of the race so far - and is even quicker now through the first sector. Vettel currently has a 2.4 second lead.

Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso both clashed at the start of the race, resulting in a puncture for Massa. He's down in 18th.

There was a lot of damage done in the first lap. Felipe Massa's floor has taken a battering. He will be dragging that around if he gets back out. And I am not sure to what end.

Max Verstappen has made it back to the pits but it looks like last year's winner of this race is out.

Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz and Kevin Magnussen are battling for eighth. Sainz makes a move around the outside of Turn 3 but Magnussen slams the door shut.

  9. Postpublished at Lap 3/66

Sebastian Vettel is now 2.6 seconds clear of Lewis Hamilton in the lead. Valtteri Bottas is third with Daniel Ricciardo fourth.

Fernando Alonso has dropped right back down to 11th.

We are looking at Max Verstappen's car bottoming out as he makes his way back to the pits.

It was a blistering opening lap from championship leader Sebastian Vettel.

  11. Postpublished at Lap 2/66

Lewis Hamilton actually got a better start off the line than Sebastian Vettel but Vettel just ramped it up and got ahead of the Mercedes on the approach to the first corner.

Meanwhile, Kimi Raikkonen has not even made it back to the pits. His race is over.

The race is over for Kimi Raikkonen. His front left is damaged. And it looks like Max Verstappen could be out of it as well.

Disastrous start for Kimi Raikkonen, his front left tyre is all twisted the wrong way and that's his race as good as over. He limps back to the pits.

There's also damage to Max Verstappen's car. The two must have tangled on the way to the first corner.

Drivers away for the formation lap. I'm looking forward to seeing what Valtteri Bottas can do from third. Might be able to pinch a position in the run down to Turn One.

Everyone is on soft tyres apart from Jolyon Palmer, Daniil Kvyat and Stoffel Vandoorne. They are all on mediums.
