That's unfortunate for Esteban Ocon. Force India managed to send him out and he got a time on the board but was nudged into the elimination zone by Romain Grosjean at the last second.

Max Verstappen finishes fastest in the first part of qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix.

Romain Grosjean spins at Mirabeau and for a brief but scary moment he is facing on-coming traffic. He just gets out of Carlos Sainz's way before getting himself pointing the right way again.
It is ONLY Q1 and the front runners only need to do a time to get through to Q2 butttttt this Mercedes pace remains somewhat concerning.
Valtteri Bottas is fifth with Lewis Hamilton eighth - half a second slower than pacesetter Max Verstappen (1:13.078).

Everyone has been on the track now apart from Esteban Ocon. The Force India crew have been working against the clock to get his car ready for qualifying after crashing in final practice and it looks like they have got him good to go just in time. Ocon is about to head out.
Sebastian Vettel lowers the benchmark with his next lap, doing a 1:13.289. Kimi Raikkonen improves but is two tenths behind while Valtteri Bottas goes third quickest, half a second slower than Vettel.
