Felipe Massa may be feeling better, but he's just beached his Williams.

"I just lost the car on the kerb," he reports.

Massa, who is OK, went straight off and into the barrier. That's the end of his session.

Felipe Massa is back in the Williams this weekend after missing the Hungarian Grand Prix because he was feeling dizzy.

“I feel ready to get back in the car,” the Brazilian said. “I had a… I was feeling a little bit dizzy on that weekend. Vertigo is the name of what I had and unfortunately it’s the first time I had this. It was a little bit of a strange feeling and unfortunately it happens in a race weekend and keeps me out of the car but I feel good now, ready to get back to the second part of the season and really hopeful we can do good races.”

Massa, who is only racing this year because Nico Rosberg announced his retirement at the end of 2016 and Mercedes came in for Valtteri Bottas, said he was open to staying in F1 next season.

"I don’t see the point not to carry on,” he said. “So if I have an opportunity to stay in the position I believe is correct for me to stay, yes I believe maybe I can stay for another season. Otherwise not. I’m quite relaxed about my future in one way or the other, to be honest. So I think maybe just thinking about the races and we’ll see what happens.”

Amit Mandalia: My summer break was uninspiring... a lot of spring cleaning & building IKEA furniture (other flat pack furniture is available).

Daniel Eckersley: Been so much other sport on (mainly World Athletics Champs) I've barely noticed the #F1, external summer break..

Lewis Hamilton is in a very relaxed mood, he is out of the car and patting his mechanics on the back. Actually he has just gone over to Valtteri Bottas' side of the garage and is shaking hands with all of his mechanics. It is quite interesting to watch the psychology of Lewis Hamilton.

Or, in other words, pleaaaaase bring the car back Fernando. Pretty please.

"I won't arrive to the pits if you don't solve the problem," Fernando Alonso adds as he cruises around the circuit.

Is that a protest by Alonso? Or does he genuinely think he can't make it back.

"I have no power," reports Fernando Alonso.

Not a good start to the day for the Spaniard, whose McLaren is housing an upgraded engine for this weekend.

What has been going on with Hamilton at the races such as Russia, Monaco, Austria and Hungary where things have not quite come together for him? Does he know why he has been struggling? “I think so, yeah, and that is what we are tackling on an engineering perspective and how we tackle the pitfalls ahead of us and how we manoeuvre around them. The places we decide to set the car up in, for example.

“The way our car is, you apply a driving style and it just doesn't like it. You have to try loads of different techniques and figure out, ‘Oh that works, the car works in that area,’ and really grab on to it. That’s how it was in Hungary. It didn't feel that great initially in the race, had to change a bunch of settings, change my lines, and eventually the car like this spot and can really start to lean on it. It is almost like being on a roundabout and so many different tun-offs and some raids are shorter than others but the ones that are the longest if you are lucky enough to find it that’s where you can stretch the wings off the car. I live that discovery but it is much nicer when you can do it earlier in the weekend.”

No changes to the drivers line-up for first practice, with the usual 20 taking part.

The Halo is getting a run out on some of the cars today.
