BBC Sport’s chief F1 writer in SingaoreMcLaren are to split with engine partners Honda at the end of the season, just three years into their troubled partnership.
It follows consistently poor performance and reliability from Honda's engines since the two joined forces for the 2015 season.
They had hoped to repeat their success from 1988-91 but fell well short.
The move, confirmed on Friday, is to be the first of a series of choreographed announcements involving three teams.
• McLaren will use Renault engines in 2018
• Honda will switch its engine supply to Red Bull's junior Toro Rosso team next year
• Toro Rosso driver Carlos Sainz will move to Renault

Thirty-two years ago TODAY Ayrton Senna scored his second of 41 grand prix victories by taking the chequered flag at the Belgian Grand Prix ahead of Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost.
Not a bad podium, that.
