Red Bull have pretty well made up their mind about Daniil Kvyat and I don't think he forms part of their plans.

Fernando Alonso, Stoffel Vandoorne, Romain Grosjean and Daniil Kvyat are the four men - along with Nico Hulkenberg who has stayed in the garage - in trouble with just over four minutes left.

  7. Postpublished at 22:34 British Summer Time 21 October 2017

Nico Hulkenberg, who has a 20-place grid penalty to deal with, is the only car not to have gone out so far.

If he stays in the garage then only four other men will miss out on moving into Q3.

Lewis Hamilton is the quickest man so far, and Sebastian Vettel comes across the line in third quickest - that's a long way off.

Max Verstappen goes a bit wide on his lap. Still plenty of time to go again though.

    Mark Gallagher
BBC Radio 5 live Formula 1 analyst

Romain Grosjean will be breathing a big sigh of relief that he is out there at all.

For the American team, getting through to Q2 is a bit of a relief - I think he will struggle to go much further.

  17. 'Good effort from Hartley'published at 22:23 British Summer Time 21 October 2017

    Mark Gallagher
BBC Radio 5 live Formula 1 analyst

I think Brendon Hartley will be disappointed, but it's a good effort and he's definitely made good progress over the weekend.

When you look at his performance against Stroll, he's put together something pretty solid.

It's a huge disappointment for Stroll.

  19. Five gonepublished at 22:21 British Summer Time 21 October 2017

The men to miss out are...

    • Marcus Ericsson (Sauber)
    • Lance Stroll (Williams)
    • Brendon Hartley (Toro Rosso)
    • Pascal Wehrlein (Sauber)
    • Kevin Magnussen (Haas)

"I don't know what happened with the engine," says Lance Stroll. Magnussen is the slowest of the 20 cars as Haas lose a car earlier on in their home race. McLaren's Stoffel Vandoorne had been in trouble but saves himself late on.
