BBC Sport’s chief F1 writerMcLaren’s hopes of starting the Formula 1 season close to the front have been hit by the latest in a series of problems in pre-season testing.
The car, with Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne at the wheel, broke down three times on the first day of the final test in Barcelona.
The first two failures were an electrical shutdown caused by a battery problem, the third a loss of hydraulic pressure.
McLaren completed the fewest laps of any team and Vandoorne was 12th fastest of the 13 drivers taking part on Tuesday.

Sebastian Vettel finishes fastest with a time of 1:20.396.
Lewis Hamilton has the fourth quickest time (1:20.808) while there were more problems for McLaren after twice bringing out the red flag.

Carlos Sainz produces a personal best with 1:21.455 on softs to move up to eighth. That also puts him one place and 0.023s behind his Renault team-mate Nico Hulkenberg.

Max Verstappen brought out the third red flag of the day a couple of hours ago after coming to a stop but Red Bull have managed to get him back out for the final 15 minutes of the session.
No sign of similar movement at McLaren...

Toro Rosso have had a very good morning with Pierre Gasly completing 53 laps and clocking what was then the fourth quickest time with 1:20.973.
The afternoon hasn't been so good, however. Gasly popped out for a solitary lap but has been in the garage ever since.

Forty five minutes remaining and no sign of either the McLaren or the Red Bull, which brought out this afternoon's two red flags.
If Stoffel Vandoorne doesn't get back out then McLaren will finish the day with the fewest laps completed - 38.
