Lewis Hamilton leaps up to sixth with 1:21.341 on the softs. He's a second off Sebastian Vettel's benchmark but give it time.

Stoffel Vandoorne remains at the foot of the timesheet but he's on supersofts so should climb the order soon.

Jim Robb: F1 theme song is Fleetwood Mac's The Chain. End of. No argument. Anything else is wrong.

Chris Marsh: BBC already have the best F1 theme tune. Fleetwood Mac - The Chain. Discussion over..

Rob: The formula 1 Theme should sound like "The Chain" and be performed by Fleetwood Mac

The people have spoken! To be fair, it is quite possibly the best theme tune to anything ever.

    Your Formula 1 theme tune

Somewhat interesting news over the weekend that Liberty Media has hired the man behind the music for films such as Fast and Furious, Avengers and Iron Man to come up with a theme tune for Formula 1.

With that in mind, what would your Formula 1 theme song be? What would it sound like and who would you get to compose/sing it?

Sergio Perez has gone back in so it's just Stoffel Vandoorne out there making up for lost time. He remains bottom of the timesheet but has posted improvements with every lap, with his latest a 1:21.946.

  10. Hamilton rechargedpublished at 13:10 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2018

Lewis Hamilton said that he found this winter particularly valuable in terms of recharging his batteries after a long and challenging 2017.

“It was recovery, because if you saw my schedule you would be super shocked that I do what I do with the schedule that I have, which I’ve partly created for myself but also my team. So it was really just recharging. I really needed to recharge and I had the best period - probably the longest period that I’d have for a long, long time. As long as I can remember to be honest. It was much-needed but also meant that I had extra time to prepare and get ready. I'm super fresh, I feel great. That’s a good thing.”

    Sergio Perez also heads out.

Force India have had a pretty low key testing so far. They did the fewest amount of laps in the first test and only McLaren have done fewer than them today.

Probably Moaning: I know, completely different situation, but for all the McLaren critics: remember the mess Red Bull were in during 2013‘s pre-session tests? 107% outside the fastest time and 3rd least laps completed. McLaren won’t win the title this year - but don’t write them off

John Wilkinson: In F1 the adage is do the opposite of what Alonso would do. He wanted another engine supplier, McLaren should have stuck with Honda.

  19. Morning summarypublished at 12:35 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2018

    Andrew Benson
    BBC Sport’s chief F1 writer

McLaren had a dismal start to the final pre-season test when their car broke down after just four laps.

Stoffel Vandoorne suffered a battery problem, making it the third day in five in winter testing so far on which McLaren have had reliability problems.

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel was fastest in the morning, ahead of Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen of Red Bull.

Vandoorne suffered the same problem - an electrical shutdown - twice. First the car cut out on its way into the pits, then after setting his first time, Vandoorne ground to a halt on the pit straight.

McLaren managed to get Vandoorne out again just before the chequered flag ended the morning session, giving him a total of seven laps, while Vettel, Bottas and Verstappen all did more than 80.

Meanwhile, Honda's new partner Toro Rosso - the Red Bull junior team - managed more than 50 laps and their driver Pierre Gasly was just 0.377secs off the pace on Tuesday morning.
