If 38-year-old Kimi Raikkonen gets pole then he will be the oldest polesitter since 41-year-old Nigel Mansell grabbed top spot during his brief comeback with Williams in 1994.

At the other end of the age range, 20-year-old Max Verstappen has never had a pole position and will become the youngest driver in Formula 1 history to do so if he does today.

  9. Norris retains Formula 2 title leadpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 28 April 2018

Earlier today, Great Britain's Lando Norris retained his lead at the top of the FIA Formula 2 Championship by coming sixth in the hour-long feature race in the second weekend of the competition.

Norris, 18, part of McLaren's Young Driver Programme, qualified in second place but stalled on the formation lap before recovering to take sixth after winning the feature race in Bahrain earlier this month.

The race was won by Thailand's Alexander Albon, while another Brit, Jack Aitken came second with George Russell 12th and out of the points.

But all the drivers have more opportunities for points tomorrow with the 45-minute sprint race (10:10 BST), where Norris will start third on the grid.

He will be absolutely delighted if he can do the same again today, considering he was not quickest over any of the three practice sessions.

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen was third ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

The Dutchman leapt to fourth in a last dash after a crash by Williams' Sergey Sirotkin had brought out the red flag and left time for one flying lap.
