  1. Raikkonen sasspublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 8 July 2018

That Kimi Raikkonen pre-stop message for you, with full-on sass! He was on the team radio, saying he wanted to be "aggressive" with Max Verstappen.

His race engineeer said: "We are trying but the 10 second penalty is an issue.

Raikkonen snapped: "Yeah but it isn't going to even be a point if we don't clear. I'm not allowed to think any more..."

Raikkonen now back up to ninth, having overtaken Kevin Magnussen and Carlos Sainz...

Haas team-mates Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen were under investigation by the stewards for causing a collision at Turn Three on the opening lap. The verdict: No further action against either driver.

Kimi Raikkonen is told to come into the pits to serve his 10-second penalty. There was a bit of a to-and-fro as he discussed it over the team radio beforehand, which ended with the Iceman sarcastically spitting: "OK, so I'm not allowed to think any more." He comes out in 11th.

Mike Walsh: That 10-second penalty. Would probably have been 5 (or none) if it hadn’t been Hamilton at Silverstone.

Sho: Vettel's penalty last week was a joke and so is Kimi's today. 5 and 10 seconds respectively is just pointless. 2 weeks in a row a Ferrari has just destroyed a Merc's race and basically just got a tap on the shoulder.

Vettel has just been quietly breezing away out in front. He has a six-second lead after 11 laps but Hamilton is into sixth and has got rid of the slower cars. Now he will have to get his head down, he has 13 seconds of clear space and then has Ricciardo, Raikkonen and Verstappen and that is when it will get a lot harder.

Lewis Hamilton gets past Carlos Sainz and is up to ninth. Now he's chasing Esteban Ocon... goes past him! Up to eighth. The crowd cheer. He's still 25 seconds off Sebastian Vettel at the front, but the Briton is a man on a mission now...

  12. 'Zero consistency'published at 14:25 British Summer Time 8 July 2018

I honestly can't believe the decision. We have all sorts of complaints with VAR and consistency in football and the same is happening in Formula 1. Vettel got a five second penalty two weeks ago but Raikkonen gets a 10 second penalty? There is zero consistency.

Edward Taylor: 2nd race is a row where a Ferrari has crashed into a Mercedes and benefited from it. A 10 second penalty is not sufficient in the context of the impact on the race and the World Championship.

Euan: No matter how badly damaged Hamilton's car is, it isn't going to make much of a difference. He'll be back into the top six before long.

Ten-second time penalty for Kimi Raikkonen for causing a collision! Wow - that shakes things up.

    Lap 6/52

Just had another look at the Raikkonen/Hamilton incident. Raikkonen seemed to lock, and Hamilton didn't leave enough room - and their wheels came together, with Hamilton sent spinning. The stewards are now having a look at it too.

Hamilton is flying back up the field - he's back up to 10th now. It's going to be a heck of an effort to get back from here, but he's having a go.

What a start from Sebastian Vettel. He stormed past Lewis Hamilton within metres of the start after a sluggish opening from the reigning world champion, before Hamilton went off the track. If he is to win a sixth British Grand Prix he will have to do it the hard way as he dropped to 15th.

Race engineer: "There may be some damage but we can't see much at the moment. We are still reviewing."

Lewis Hamilton will surely have damage to the floor of his Mercedes. It will be costing him some aero.
