Lap 35/52
Safety car still out there. Just watching a replay of the Ericsson spin and crash. Not nice. Thankfully, he is OK.

Hamilton was apparently told to do the opposite of what Raikkonen did.

What a fascinating dynamic we have now! There are 18 laps to go, Verstappen and Raikkonen both pitted so that's put Hamilton up to third position.

There is a lot of movement in the pit lane. Ferrari coming out with soft tyres, Mercedes also coming out with soft tyres. Vettel is first in...
Lap 34/52
Sebastian Vettel pits for a new set of soft tyres. Valtteri Bottas stays out. So too does Lewis Hamilton.

Huge, huge accident. That is the fastest corner on the circuit. The safety car works horribly for Daniel Ricciardo because he had just pitted.
Thank goodness - Marcus Ericsson is OK. He's climbing out of the car after that crash at Abbey Corner, to big cheers from the Silverstone criwd.
And we've got the safety car out. Tactics time, everybody...
Marcus Ericsson goes into the barriers - that's a double Sauber retirement... Looks nasty.

Why are they bringing Daniel Ricciardo in? That is the question. Is this Red Bull throwing a gamble? A bit of a strategy call?
Lap 31/52
Daniel Ricciardo comes in for a second pit stop. What's going on here? He's going on to soft tyres.
Lap 30/52
Hamilton sticks in another fastest lap - 1:31.546. He's not giving up on this. There's more drama to come here - I can feel it.

Hamilton got himself from 18th to second before he came in to the pits after that early spin and now drops back down to sixth with Sebastian Vettel first and Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas second. Still, what a drive it has been from Hamilton since that early problem.
Lap 29/52
Lewis Hamilton sticks in a fastest lap of 1:31.682 after being told by his team that he is in sixth place - is a podium finish still on for the Briton?

Vettel has not got good pace out there at the moment. Bottas was half a second quicker on the last lap.
Hamilton , having pitted, is on fresh tyres and then can charge at the top three.

Something funny going on with that Hamilton stop. Mercedes brought the tyres out, they were all ready to go but Hamilton did not come in so they had to all go back in but they come out now for Hamilton, he is coming in now.
What was going on with him not coming in when they first asked him to? Those tyres will not be at perfection.
Lap 28/52
So just a quick recap - only two drivers have gone so far. Toro Rossos' Brendon Hartley retired on Lap 2, and Charles Leclerc went in Lap 20 after coming out of the pits with a loose wheel.
