Daniel was lucky in a way, but unlucky in that it ended his race. The boys in the garage did a incredible job in getting that rear wing turned around so quick. It usually takes about 45 minutes and it took them 10 minutes.

"We need to make a step up to Ferrari and Mercedes, the gap is significant. Honda are making great progress, and you can see they are making headway.

"Today was an awesome drive by Max, he had to pass the Haas and he had to do it all on the brakes. You can see from our rear wing that hurts us in the middle sector here. He managed to match the pace to Ferrari and Mercedes at his home race and get on the podium which is brilliant.

"Daniel will be taking an engine penalty next weekend for sure. Max might be making engine changes, but Singapore might be our next chance to put some pressure on Ferrari and Mercedes."

Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene tells Sky Sports: "Today finally it was not cloudy so we were in the situation to express our potential.

"It is a pity for Kimi, it was our mistake yesterday (to not be out on track at the end of Q3), when we make a mistake it is my mistake first.

"Today, we demonstrated that our car is stronger. It is a super class driver and good to have racing like this. I'm looking forward to Monza and we will see."

Evans Njomo: Lewis Hamilton was to win the #BelgianGP, external but messed in the first lap by failing to take advantage. It seems Ferrrari have a better engine than Mercedes. Congrats to Vettel for his 52nd win. He reduces gap to 17 points.

Max Verstappen, who finished third, says: "Yeah it was a little boring, especially after the first 10-12 laps. Initially it was a bit chaotic but we stayed out of trouble and did our own thing and got on the podium.

"Before in Spa we have been unlucky, and it happens sometimes but I'm very happy with today."

Lewis Hamilton, who finishes second, says: "Congrats to Seb I did everything I could and we ultimately did well, but he drove past me like I was not there. We have to keep pushing to see what we can do.

"They have got a few trick things going on in the car, I did what I could, we did what we could so we have to keep working."

Sebastian Vettel, winner of the Belgian Grand Prix, says: "Well er, yeah, more wins (52) than Alain Prost. Pwah. I had a great start, I'm not sure Lewis saw me as he pushed me to the left in the first lap, but after last year I ended up short, and this year it was the other way around - this year was better.

"As soon as I was ahead I relaxed. I had a good restart after the safety car, and after that it was a very smooth race. We turned everything around and then controlled the race.

"Going through traffic I was fortunate I didn't lose much time. Lewis wasn't really pushing anymore in the last 15 laps so I wasn't either. I enjoyed the race and to get so much time on this track is good and I always enjoy it in a fast car."

And now the German and Italian national anthems with Sebastian Vettel, for the fifth time in 2018, standing on the top step of the podium.

A win in Belgium follows his victories in Australia, Bahrain, Canada and Great Britain.

It's been a straight forward race for Vettel since he took the lead. He hasn't really had to do anything. There's not really much to dissect in the Hamilton/ Vettel battle.

Sebastian Vettel is now 17 points behind championship leader Lewis Hamilton. It is a win in Belgium for the German, with Hamilton, who started on pole but was overtaken on the opening lap, second.

Verstappen third, Bottas fourth, Perez fifth, Ocon sixth, Grosjean seventh, Magnussen eighth, Gasly ninth, Ericsson 10th.

We are seeing pictures of Charles Leclerc's 'Halo'. It was criticised as 'ugly' by some before the start of the season, it may well have saved the Sauber man's life today.

Vettel's lead now 10 seconds. That first lap overtake, called by both BBC Sport's F1 online chief Matt, and chief F1 writer Andrew Benson before the race started, has proved crucial.

This one looks done and dusted. Lewis Hamilton is now 9.2 seconds behind, and saving his car for another day. Sebastian Vettel is closing in on his first win since Silverstone last month.
