This is the final time I can grace you with my words in a live text format this year - with the help of my lovely colleague Mike Whalley today.

BBC Sport’s chief F1 writer in Abu Dhabi

Lewis Hamilton won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to end the season in which he clinched his fifth world championship on a high.

It was the 11th victory of the year for Hamilton, who dominated the race with a controlled drive.

Hamilton performed 'doughnuts' after crossing the line, before himself and former title rival Sebastian Vettel flanked the retiring two-time world champion Fernando Alonso - before all three performed more doughnuts on the start-finish straight.

The three drivers hold 11 of some of the most recent world championships won in a golden era for driving talent in the sport.

Now, Lewis Hamilton, what was all that business about going topless at the end of the race? Well, it was all to do with Still I Rise, the Maya Angelou poem he has tattooed on his back.

"I took my shirt off because I wanted to show people Still I Rise," he tells Sky Sports. "I really would encourage people to look it up if they don't know it.

"It's a poem for anyone stumbling and falling. Look at Billy Monger. He's been through a difficult time and he's comeback stronger. I've tried to be as big a spokesman as I can be for that poem."

A very broken looking Valtteri Bottas speaking to Sky Sports, says: "I had a lock up into Turn five and in Turn eight when Max got close. I don't know why really, the team said they could see some issue but I don't know what and then I touched with Max and there was a slow puncture and in the end... that was it really.

[Quaestion] How do you feel about the whole season?

Bottas says: "Honestly you're asking that too early after the end of the year. I want to have some time off and time to think about things. It's been a mentally tough year so I need some break. Thankyou."

Race winner Lewis Hamilton is feeling philosophical as he speaks to Sky Sports and is asked about continuing his domination of the sport in 2019.

He says: "I've not really thought a lot about next year. There are days, just being human, you can wish days by. But then I don't want to wish the time away because it goes really quick.

"I wanted to end the season strong, and on a personal level I was able to do that. And the team have done an exceptional job. I wanted to end the way that I plan to start next year. It was a strong weekend that I was really happy with.

"I don't think it's been a year particularly of one thing that's been learned. I've understood myself better as I've gone on. As you make mistakes, you learn from them.

"I've been able to be a better me all year long, and I'm never going to stop trying yo do that. I've loved every minute of driving today. Apart from the tyres not being that good, I've really enjoyed driving the car."
