    On his Lap 6 pit-stop: "The engineers always talk about stopping too early. They were way too chilled and the car didn't feel right. But it turned out they were right. A big thank you to the engineers."

    On Fernando Alonso: "Fernando is a true legend. It's been a privilege to race when he is racing. I as asked all weekend if I will miss him. I don't feel I will miss another driver, but the sport will miss him and I will miss him from the sport."

    Max Verstappen, our tiger of the day, who came third, says: "It was not an easy race, I had a problem at the start but then my engine went into safety mode and I had it again in the restart afterwards.

    "But I managed to go back and put some pressure of the guys ahead and we managed to keep the supersofts alive. We had a good pace but the last few laps were hard because there was a Toro Rosso leaking oil on my helmet so I couldn’t see."

    I'd say Fernando Alonso is around the top five of all time, but I struggle to judge Juan Manuel Fangio and Jim Clark, the old greats who I never saw drive. It's very difficult to compare those drivers with the modern-day drivers. But Alonso is one of the all-time greats, and he will be missed.
