    Bottas leads Australian GP #bbcf1

Rachel T: People need to realise that Valtteri is a terrific driver - this is not a surprise and I am sure Lewis will relish the fight, particularly as there doesn’t seem to be a challenge from Ferrari!

Babatunde Sakiru: It's too early to speculate the championship. However, Lewis Hamilton needs to reflect on his own performance.

Jeremiah Kariuki: Bottas enjoying the race. Setting fast lap after fast lap. He is going for maximum 26 points.

Hamilton is still much slower than Bottas, still a second a lap.

  6. Bottas is sailing into the sunsetpublished at 06:16 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2019

He's over 23 seconds ahead of Hamilton in the lead. That gap is the bigger than any of the top two throughout the whole of last year.

And he undid all of his hard work.

However... he just made it back as he went ahead of Gasly coming out of the pits. Kvyat is now up to 10th and is still pushing hard.

    With a capital S.

They are well down at the bottom of the leaderboard. George Russell is way down over a lap behind and 18 seconds behind Giovinazzi in 15th.

But Robert Kubica is even further behind, he's two laps and 1min 20 sec behind George Russell!

That Mercedes-Honda combination at the front is a strong one.

Bottas reclaims the fastest lap, and Verstappen is on Hamilton's tail.

It is a strange race from Hamilton, he has been up and down and he has Ferrari and an aggressive Red Bull not far behind.

    Lap 34/58

Goodbye Daniel Ricciardo. Not a good day in the Aussie office for him.

Romain Grosjean says on the radio: "Front suspension's broken." But actually, it's the same as Australia last year, his front left tyre isn't on properly.

  17. Battle for thirdpublished at 05:59 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2019

Once again between Verstappen and Vettel. (Remember this from the end of last season?)

And Verstappen does what he does best - squeezes through a gap which isn't really there, and he does him.

  18. Leclerc pitspublished at 05:56 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2019

While everyone else is on the mediums, Ferrari decide on the hard tyres for Leclerc. Interesting strategy there.

They brought an extra set of hard tyres for Charles Leclerc, and one less of mediums.
