If Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi receive more serious penalties then Romain Grosjean could move from ninth to seventh, Magnussen from 10th to eighth, Hamilton from 11th to ninth and Robert Kubica from 12th to 10th.

As soon as we know, you will know.

  2. Postpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 28 July 2019

Kimi Raikkonen finished seventh and Antonio Giovinazzi eighth.

Grosjean in ninth came four seconds behind Raikkonen and three seconds behind Giovinazzi.

Magnussen in 10th is also within five seconds of Giovinazzi, but not Raikkonen.

If, and this is purely speculative, both Alfa Romeos get a five-second penalty then Grosjean would go from ninth to seventh, Raikkonen would drop to eighth, Magnussen would move up to ninth, with Giovinazzi 10th.

The last time Kvyat and Vettel shared a podium there were handbags aplenty.

Vettel, furious with Kvyat's aggressive overtake on the first lap of the 2016 Chinese GP, shouted at the Russian throughout the podium ceremony.

Kvyat, enjoying his time at Red Bull at the time (before being sacked a race later), responded in the correct way.

By the way, Max Verstappen also snuffled the bonus point for the fastest lap. A perfect day for him.

He wasn't so happy when he was swearing over team radio after a 360 spin after going on the wrong tyres.

  7. 'In these conditions it’s so easy to make a mistake'published at 16:46 British Summer Time 28 July 2019

Valtteri Bottas, who sadly crashed out in the final few laps says: "I learned, for sure, a lot and I made a mistake myself.

"The team told me to push harder to get on the podium and I was pushing as hard as I could and obviously a bit too hard. My mistake, maybe I should have been more calm, but if I didn’t try so hard I could have at least taken some points.

"In these conditions it’s so easy to make a mistake, I should have done the race without any mistakes but it happened."

Owain Hunt: How often do you get a podium where all three drivers have raced for the same team at some point in their career?

Alhaji: I have never seen a race as eventful as this #GermanGP The rain had both drivers and strategists running all over the place

Josh Earl: WHAT A RACE. First Silverstone, now this!! Who said F1 was boring?

  9. 'My first time driving around in the wet'published at 16:43 British Summer Time 28 July 2019

Alexander Albon, whose finish of sixth was the best of his 11-race career, tells Sky Sports: I'm happy but slightly miffed at the same time. We did a good call, especially at the beginning, but it's frustrating as were fourth or fifth all race.

"This was my first time driving around in the wet and I had no ideas when the track was ready. I haven't experienced this before."

  10. 'A hectic race'published at 16:39 British Summer Time 28 July 2019

Lance Stroll, who finished fourth for his best result since coming third in Azerbaijan in June 2017, tells Sky Sports: "I'm really happy but it's a bit unfortunate that the podium slipped away. I was leading the race at one point.

"A small error allowed Dani (Kvyat) to get by. It was a hectic race and we were on the right tyre with 20 laps to go.

"I was driving with my visor open for the lap, inspecting the tarmac seeing if it was good for slicks. I knew if we could just jump our competitors, who were on inters, we would be in really good shape."

JavelBleach: Good race for the neutral. Maybe the season isn't actually all over already?

History Lass: Vettel out performed Hamilton today in the wet. Not often we say that but Vettel showed that he is better than him today.

Tom Ruzyllo: Absolutely delicious that Mercedes chose this — and only this — race to let the Netflix cameras into this season...oops!

  18. 'A rollercoaster, just like my career'published at 16:19 British Summer Time 28 July 2019

Daniil Kvyat, who was demoted from Red Bull in place of Max Verstappen a few years ago and then binned off from Toro Rosso, has claimed his first podium since his shock return to the sport.

The Russian, who became a father yesterday, came third and says: "It was amazing to be back on the podium. Incredible with Toro Rosso to bring a podium back to the team is amazing.

"I'm really happy. It was a horror movie with a black comedy. At some point i thought the race was done, but it was incredible, a rollercoaster, just like my career."

  19. 'I don't know if I can recap the whole race'published at 16:18 British Summer Time 28 July 2019

Sebastian Vettel, who finished second after starting last on the grid, says: "Thank you. It was a long race at some stage it felt never ending. It was very fun, it was tough with the conditions and tough to read what was the smartest move.

"It took a while I don't think there was problem but at the beginning with the intermediates I couldn't get the hang of it and eventually it was good that the afternoon took so long, I don't know if I can recap the whole race now and congratulations to Max he drove so well and he just kept going.

"Before the last safety car it was straight-forward, I was fast and could time it right and people were being cautious into the first corner and I had DRS and I could get the moves in the back straight."

Our winner Max Verstappen, who spun during the race, says: "It was amazing to win, it was really tricky out there to make the right calls, you had to be focused.
