Bottas remains in third, only six tenths he has nailed it down to so not a great improvement after losing time in the final sector.

What a shame for Verstappen being super quick and having to take five places on the grid. He's still in the fight, but it's back to standard Red Bull territory of the last few races being behind the Ferrari and Mercedes. It's better to start fifth than last, that's obviously but just from the pace they've got in this session, they look like they have front row qualifying pace.

Hamilton's miles away.
He's had a really poor day. He has been behind his team-mate pretty much every run so far.
He is a long way adrift.
The car hasn't look great on either axle.
He has been sliding a bit from the rear, under-steering into a lot of those medium-speed corners, which is always a time killer and hasn't look good at all.
The Red Bull and the Ferrari look so much more planted under Leclerc and Verstappen.
Alex Albon is back in the garage with some problems. Potentially floor damage. 35 minutes remaining on FP2.
The Finnish driver has had some success at Russia, taking his first career victory with Mercedes in 2017 and pole here last year. He would have won the race, had Mercedes team orders not ruined things for him.

Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz go wheel to wheel.
Max Verstappen does a storming lap. He boxed for softs, went out again to go 0.335 sec ahead of Leclerc at the top. "Not a perfect last sector but yeah." He says to the team.

I would imagine Kvyat is feeling a bit of pressure at the moment, not to just because it's his home race but Pierre Gasly is back and he's out qualified him three times in a row.
Marko has already said Kvyat out of the running for Red Bull seat.
Just to prove that you can see the sea from Sochi - it's just about visible on the horizon of this picture.
There has only been five Russian grands prix so far, but Mercedes hold the key to success here, though they have downplayed that so far by bigging up Ferrari's speed through the corners which could benefit them here.
Kay: Hamilton’s hand tattoo has got to signify Senna’s first race win surely? Portuguese Grand Prix in 1985.

Not sure if this is the beach Jolyon Palmer was referring to...

Did Ferrari’s strong performance in Singapore signify a breakthrough for a team that has struggled all year the more corners there are on a track?
Sebastian Vettel did not say yes, but he headed in that direction: “It has been a very good streak for us and a very good result for us in Singapore in particular because it was on a (kind of) track where we haven’t been so good lately so that was a positive surprise for us,” he said. “It helps us understand our car even further and understand the direction of what it needs to do more to explore certain directions more.
“So there are a lot of positives other than the result. It is definitely heading in the right direction. But it would be wrong to think from one or two different kinds of track we can win everywhere. Mercedes has been in a position to win every race so they are the ones to beat. That’s where we want to be and ideally we want to be ahead of that and not just there,. so lots of work in front of us but it also shows if things are going in the right way it doesn’t take much to click.”
Any ideas why Lewis Hamilton has a 1985 tattoo on his hand?
The obvious answer would be his age (he was born in 1985) but I'm pretty sure he does not need a visual reminder.
I'm thinking an alternative answer could be that Back to the Future is his favourite film...
Any other alternative ideas?
