Lap 52/53
The camera is not even focusing on Valtteri Bottas. The director thinks this one is done.
Lap 52/53
"I need more power."
Bottas closing in on Japanese GP win #bbcf1
Jon: Bottas out-qualified Hamilton, he passed two Ferrari off the line, has driven flawlessly, and maybe the strategy has favoured him - for once. It's not always about Hamilton.
Lap 52/53
It is a great battle with Hamilton swarming over the back of Vettel's Ferrari. Excellent defence from the German so far. Two more laps for him to hold on to that second place. Valtteri Bottas is 14 seconds clear, closing in on the sixth win of his career.

Tony Clarke: Valtteri has been supreme today. I can understand Lewis wants to win every race but VB deserves this after all the team orders recently.
Josh Reardon: Mercedes have hugely messed up the strategy again today. Pitting Hamilton feels like a sympathy vote for Bottas.
Lap 50/53
Hamilton half a second behind Vettel. That's our end of race excitement, but it's for second, not the race lead.
Lap 50/53
"Leclerc is asking to unlap himself so just be careful..."
Lap 50/53
"Can I unlap myself or... otherwise I just take the gap?"
Lap 49/53
Ricciardo had a bad qualifying session, out in Q1, now he gets the jump on Pierre Gasly and that is seventh. Gasly was the man who replaced Ricciardo at Red Bull, before Gasly himself swapped seats with Alexander Albon earlier this season.
Lap 48/53
Alexander Albon is closing in on his best ever result - 4th. Carlos Sainz, for the third time this season is on course for fifth. Leclerc, Gasly, Ricciardo, Hulkenberg and Stroll are ranked sixth to 10th.
Lap 48/53
Leclerc pits for a late assault on the fastest lap point.

Lap 47/53
It started fantastically, but this race could have an anti-climatic ending with Valtteri Bottas 10 seconds ahead of Sebastian Vettel, who is having to try to fend off Lewis Hamilton.
"You can go now."
DR: "Thank you, I will get em'"
And he's done it already, before I finished writing this entry. Getting ahead of Stroll into eighth. Gasly in seventh is the next target.
Ricciardo was just allowed to go ahead of team-mate Nico Hulkenberg. Then comes this message...

Lap 45/53
Unless something random happens, this will be a Bottas win. If Hamilton gets ahead of Vettel and into second then that is the constructors' title in the bag for a sixth year in a row.
Lap 44/53
Engineer: "If you pit now you'll have to overtake six cars."
CL: "Why should we stop, actually?"
Engineer: "Tyre life and fastest lap."
