Alex Lloyd: I’m sorry what?! So as long as you don’t trigger a sensor you can jump the start? Had that not been Ferrari the driver would’ve gotten a drive through penalty. One rule for some and one rule for others

Seriousface: That's a pretty inconsistent decision not to award Vettel a penalty. Kimi did exactly the same thing in the last race, he was stopped again when the lights went out, and got a penalty. Strange.

    Lap 16/53

Bottas has just jumped up to a six-second lead over Sebastian Vettel, who is going to be more concerned by Lewis Hamilton closing in behind him.

A Mercedes one-two will see them win the constructors' title if it ends that way.

  4. Verstappen retires from the racepublished at 06:37 British Summer Time 13 October 2019

    Lap 15/53

That first-lap crash with Charles Leclerc eventually ends Max Verstappen's race. He is the first to be out, in Red Bull's engine supplier Honda's home race.

I'm surprised how he [Vettel] got away with that. His wheels might not have crossed the line.

Adrian: Wondering if there are any more ways left that Ferrari can find to screw up races.

Kayleigh: Something tells me James [Vowles, Mercedes' chief strategist] is practicing his ‘Valtteri, it’s James’ message...

Now we are getting confirmation that Sebastian Vettel will not get a penalty for that apparent jump start. He bumped forward, but then did stop again.

Charles Leclerc is looking to get back as high as he can up the field. He skips past Daniil Kvyat for 15th.

Meanwhile, at the front Valtteri Bottas locks up to put those tyres under a bit more strain. The Finn does have a four-second lead at the front though.

All the craziness has been going on around him, but Carlos Sainz is now sitting fourth. He has not finished in the top four all season. He's going to have to fight hard to keep it though as Alexander Albon is only a second behind.

Kal-Ali: Oh Max Verstappen! Has to be the unluckiest man on the track. How many times has he been collided into?

Adrian King: Interesting that they have now chosen to investigate the first lap incident after all this time. It may be time to investigate Adelaide 94 while we are at it.

Alex Lloyd: Seb getting away with a jump start? And heart wrenching for Lando! How was there a move there?

Bradley: Raikonnen penalized recently for false start, why not Vettel?

We're hearing that Vettel is now under investigation for a false start. Thought there was no checking of it, but apparently now there is. That's twice the stewards seem to have changed their mind.

That opening lap incident between Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc is under investigation. Seems like Red Bull went a bit early with their message to the Dutchman saying there would be no action from the stewards. One to monitor.

SeriousFace: So poor from Leclerc. A time penalty would be completely justified, putting other drivers at risk
