Is Hamilton already the greatest ever?

Duncan Beagley: I can see @LewisHamilton, external being stuck at six (world titles) for some time. There’s some great talent: Max V and; in his own team, @ValtteriBottas, external. Next year is Bottas’ year and then it’s about getting a ride that will deliver.

Will: He's the best since Senna. The only drivers that for me have pushed him in terms of entertainment is Alonso and Verstappen. And the stats suggest only Jim Clarke and Fangio are up there with @LewisHamilton, external and Senna.

  5. 'I don't think there is a limit'published at 21:31 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

Mercedes team boss, Toto Wolff says he is a happy man. He says: "I'm very proud of everyone who coordinates in the factory. There is a massive amount of work that goes on and if it ends up like this: one wins the race and one the title..." he trails off.

"I hope that everyone is having a good time back in the UK we will all be on the same flight back to London tonight, so we hope there will have a mini bar there."

What's the future for Lewis? Wolff says, "I think he's still motivated and you can see he wants to win every race, we wanted to provide him with a good car and I don't think there is a limit, personally."

By the way, Charles Leclerc got the bonus point for Ferrari for the fastest lap, but for the second weekend in a row they've had a disappointing Sunday. Vettel started on the front row, but his race ended early. Leclerc started and finished fourth, but was never challenging for the podium.

Is Hamilton already the greatest ever?

Maclenore: I think Lewis is the greatest ever. Definitely on course to catch the great Schumacher. 10 years ago we would have never thought it possible

Philip West: Hamilton is easily the best driver of the turbo-hybrid era, and is certainly up there with the best drivers in history. But comparing generations in this sport is pointless. There is no true, undisputed ‘greatest of all time’, and there never, ever will be.

Jeremiah Kariuki: Lewis Hamilton is a G.O.A.T. His driving is mercurial , manages pressure well and always ready to go an extra mile with a fight, to win.

Champagne momentpublished at 21:10 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

Valtteri Bottas picks up the bottle of champagne and pours it over his team-mate's head who just became the second most successful driver in the sport.

Mercedes have already won their sixth constructors' championship this year, they took pole here yesterday, and secured a one-two today in the race.

Does it get any better than that?
